It’s June! Which means I should really show you what my May faves were. I was on vacation this past week so I couldn’t blog but here it is! I really loved all of these things this month… and I really can’t wait to share so let’s get started!
I saw the tarte Glam Goodies Discovery Set come and go on Sephora’s website so many times before I finally caved and ordered it when I saw it again during the VIB Rouge sale in early April. Talk about good timing! Not only is tarte cosmetics one of my fave brands, in my eyes it had three things going for it:
- It included a Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint. This has always peaked my curiosity but never purchased it. The lippie lover in me was happy to finally get to try it!
- The Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara that everyone seems to be talking about. I wanted to see what the big deal was.
- The Tartelette Tease Eyeshadow Palette is adorable! I wasn’t sure if it was worth $25 CAN by itself but when I saw it in this kit, I thought why not?
I almost didn’t write a review because this kit is no longer available online (though, I did see it in stores so you can try your luck there) but decided to do it anyways because everything is still available individually. Now let’s take a closer look at each product.
I have been meaning to make an empties post for the longest time! I know it’s been a long time because I have a HUGE bag full of empties! So since I’m doing some spring cleaning right now, I thought, what better time to write this post than right now? Because what is a bag of empties? It’s essentially a bag of trash. 😉
So I don’t end up writing a novel (and believe me, there is enough in that bag to write a novel!), I thought I’d break things up into makeup, hair care and skin care. For today, let’s stick to my makeup empties. 🙂
It’s May and summer is just around the corner! I can tell because we are having amazing weather and it has been an unusually warm (and very dry!) spring here in Alberta. And summer days mean sunny days so it’s time to dig out those SPF products!
That being said, I never did put away my facial sunscreen. In the last year or so, I haven’t stopped using it. I have been using sunscreen year round on my face. It could be a beautiful sunny day out or the dead of winter and I still used SPF on my face. Trust me – even when it’s cloudy and overcast outside, the suns rays still penetrate the clouds and you still need protection. A dear friend of mine learned this the hard way years ago – she didn’t wear sunscreen because it was overcast all day but she still burned! We all took that as a lesson learned and became a bit more sun smart.
The face sunscreen I use right now has one downfall: it is just a sunscreen. It’s not a moisturizer so because of that, I always have to apply a moisturizer before I apply the sunscreen. It’s totally worth doing everyday but if I could skip one step and find a two-in-one product that’s a moisturizer and a sunscreen, I wouldn’t say no! 😉
