Unboxing + Review: Topbox February 2017

topbox february 2017

I feel like this month is passing me by at lightning speed! I’m just trying to keep up with life!

Today I bring to you my Topbox review for the month of February. I received the Regular Topbox again . The prive boxes don’t seem to be catching my eye a whole lot nowadays and that’s a bit disappointing. But February’s Regular Topbox contained makeup, skin care and beauty tools so I really can’t complain with a mix like that. 🙂

Anyways, let’s take a look at the contents of the box!

  • Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat ($31.99 CAD, 4 ml – full size?): This deluxe sample of Smashbox’s liquid lipstick was released as part of their Fall 2016 lineup. Driver’s Seat is described as a peach-rose nude. They say it “features Advanced Polymer Technology that makes it stay put (…) for up to 8 hours.” Sounds pretty technical, hey? I’m not quite sure what to think about that because I Googled it and all I found were links definitely did not involve makeup whatsoever! At the end of the day, this isn’t quite my shade. Peach toned lippies and I don’t get along very often and this one leans more towards the peach side than the rose.
  • Bella Aura Skincare Daily Repair Moisturizer ($30.00 CAD, 10 ml): This brand again. I feel like I’m going to end u receiving the entire Bella Aura product line! I keep getting these in my Topbox subs. Which would be vine and dandy… IF I liked it! I just can’t seem to get over the smell of their products. But for those that do like it, this is a nice way to sample these high value products. For me, though, it’s a pass.
  • La Ritzy Cosmetics Pro Blender ($16.29 CAD): I am a big fan of Beauty Blenders and I am always game for trying other beauty sponges. I’ll give this a try when it’s time for a new one… which will probably be sooner than later.
  • Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Concealer Eye Brush 211 ($24.00 CAD): Yay! I love Luxie so this brand was great to see in my Topbox. I’m quickly growing my Luxie brush collection through various subscriptions boxes. This concealer brush looks to be the perfect size for your undereye area. The brush is the right size and it’s soft. I’m looking forward to trying this! Though, I don’t know why the product card says this brand is available at Sephora when I have never seen it there before. At least not in Canada.
  • Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette in Golden Hour (card sample): I’m not sure whether to include this as an item in the Topbox or as a bonus sample. I don’t mind receiving eyeshadow card samples because you can use them many times… and usually that is enough to let me know if I like it enough or not to buy t he actual product. In this case, Golden Hour was not for me. I gave it a try this morning and while.I loved the dark purple shade and the neutral that can be used for pretty much any eye look but I wasn’t a huge fan of the other two colours. I will still use it up, though!

There you go! February’s box was pretty great. Scroll down for all the pictures.

The value was roughly $86.00 CAD (if I only took half the retail value of the full sized Smashbox liquid lipstick) so this was an excellent high value box! I will probably only end up using two of the four products, though. Overall, this Topbox was still worth it.

Check back soon for my March unboxing. I also have plans for a great new blog series and more!

Have a great week, friends!

Unboxing + Review: ipsy February 2017 Much Love #IPSYMUCHLOVE

ipsy febraury 2016

It’s time for another ipsy glam bag unboxing! Well, I guess it’s more of an unbagging. That doesn’t have quite the same ring to it but it’s the truth! Technicalities aside, let’s take a look at the bag and the mix of items that I received.

February’s theme is Much Love. How perfect is that considering it is Valentine’s Day? But aside from all that lovey dovey stuff, what ipsy was trying to get across is that the Much Love theme is all about your inner glow and how you show your squad, well, Much Loveone… which I was really skeptical about at first because it also has a neon orange trim that screams 80s and early 90s! Not exactly what I imagined for February, the month of love, but I suppose it will do. When I received it, I thought the bag was alright. It was a super soft denim material and it was cute.  Not my favourite by any means but also not horribly bad.

ipsy February 2017

The contents of the bag, however, is what made my February glam bag really shine! I absolutely adored everything I received! Let’s take a closer look.

The first item I received was the Luna by Luna Cosmetcis Highligher int he shade Calypso ($23.00 USD, 3 g). If you haven’t noticed, I have been on a huge highlighter kick lately! So I was happy to get a new one to try. When I first saw my bag reveal and saw that the colour was described as a pale lavender shade so I really wasn’t sure about this. But it did say that it’s a mix of warm and cool undertones that works with every skintone so I was willing to give it a shot. At the end of the day, it kind of reminds me of the new Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prismtic Amethyst… not exactly but in the same or similar colour family. I wish I owned the Becca one to compare swatches. Anyways, this one is a baked highlighter so it feels sillky smooth to the touch. It is sheer with one swipe but it is super buildable so you can use as little or as much as you’d like depending on the look you’re trying to achieve. I don’t have one in this shade yet and I find it is pretty unique so I will try it. And can I just say that I love the name of this company and the packaging? I love stars and anything sky related, really, so Luna is right up my alley!

ipsy February 2017

I also received a lip product in the form of a NYX Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard ($6.00 USD, 4.5 g). I have tried butter lipsticks before and I’m a huge fan of their formulation and pigmentation. I love that they are creamy and not drying at all! But while I love them, I’m just so-so on this shade. Lifeguard is described as a deep magenta but to me it seems like it leans more towards red… and I am so not a bright red lipstick girl! I have been leaning more towards neutrals lately, everyday colours that I can use at the office or as I go about y errands during the day. And when I do choose a red, I go for the deeper berry colours. So at the end of the day, I adore this product but I am passing on the shade.

ipsy February 2017

I am actually quite excited about this next product because I have been dabbling in the world of toners lately! The Dermadeli Rejuvinating Toner ($2.49 US, 10 ml) intrigues me. I have never heard of this brand before but it’s all natural so I am willing to give it a chance. It is said to “remove cellular debris, tighten pores and firm(s) the skin” which all sounds great. The witch hazel and sea kelp helps with keeping your skin moisturized, as well. The one thing that is turning me off is the very strong scent that it has. It’s very herbal due to the witch hazel. While this comes in a great size for travel, the last time I received a toner sample in this size, I had wished that I had more! We’ll see if it’s the same thoughts this time around.

ipsy February 2017

Next up is the Elizabeth Mott Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer ($2.19 USD, 0.7 g). My first impression of this was disappointing… mainly because this was so small and I have received other products form Elizabeth Mott that were much larger. When I received a blush from this brand last year, it was pretty much full-sized so when I saw that I was getting this, the expectation was pretty much the same. Instead, this made me reminiscent of the super small theBalm samples I have received and were unhappy with in the past. Anyways, I guess it was not meant to be. However, it still looks like a nice bronzer! It is matte and pigmented. A little powdery but easy enough to blend. I do prefer matte bronzers because they look more natural on me. This was also easy to depot. The pan came right out and I think I will just add it to my magnetic palette. Overall thoughts? Underwhelming in size, challenging to use with my larger brushes that I use for bronzer but still worth a try because I loved the blush I received before so much.

ipsy February 2017

Last but not least, my fave out of the entire bag – the Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514 ($24.20 USD). Because you can never have too many brushes! I am a HUGE fan of Luxie brushes so I’m happy to be able to add a new one to my collection. This blush brush is made of soft synthetic bristles and is 100% cruelty free and 100% vegan. It’s so soft and so fluffy which is what I look for in a blush brush so this is just perfect for me! Great for powders like blush, bronzers or pressed highlighters. I just love it. It’s so great.

Well that’s it for February. The total value of this bag was $57.88 USD which translates into around $78.00 CAD so the value is definitely there! Plus, out of the five items I received, three were full sized (highlighter, lipstick and blush brush) so I really can’t complain at all! Everything will be used, as well. I can say with confidence that February’s ipsy glam bag was a win! 🙂

Oh wait! Before I forget, I did redeem points for something this month! The Wet n’ Wild megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals is absolutely gorgeous! Totally worth redeeming for. 🙂

Shop My Stash: March 2017

shop my stash project pan march 2017

Greetings! As March is well under way, I didn’t want to wait to post this!

Now for the usual intro. 🙂 Essentially, this is my version of a project pan for 2017. If you want more in depth information, please check out my intro post to this series here. But to summarize…

What is a Shop My Stash?

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Every month, I will be going into my makeup collection and – you guessed it – I will shop my stash. 🙂 Just think of it as a haul post but instead of makeup I bought at Sephora or at Shoppers Drug Mart, it’s a haul straight from my own collection! And I’m hoping that by doing this monthly, I won’t get bored of the products I chose like I did in last year’s Project Pan.

How Shop My Stash Works

Every month I will take one or two of these types of products and put them in a basket.

  • Face primer
  • Color correction
  • Concealer
  • Foundation / BB Cream
  • Blush
  • Highlighter
  • Bronzer
  • Setting powder
  • Pore reducer
  • Eye primer
  • Eye shadow (palette or singles)
  • Eyeliner
  • Brow
  • Brow setting gel
  • Mascara primer
  • Mascara
  • Setting Spray

If you haven’t noticed, I did not include any lip products (lipstick, lipgloss, etc.) to my list. This is because they are already in rotation in my purse. I change them around a lot so I didn’t think they needed special attention like the rest of these products!

At the end of each month I will have to make a few decisions: keep the product, continue using it (for those holy grail products I must always use) or get rid of it. I’m hoping that by doing this I can help identify my loves and get rid of what I don’t want anymore. I hope that I can get my collection under control.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I am not going to be limited to only using what’s in my basket. If there’s something I want to use then by all means, I will! The basket is just there to help give me something to focus on that month.

Then at the end of the month, I will summarize my monthly basket (what I loved, what I didn’t love, etc.) and then I will pick out a new basket of products!

Shop My Stash for March 2017

What I learned from the first round of Shop My Stash was to not put too much into the basket. What I mean by that is to limit my focus even more on certain products. In January/February, I had doubles of a few things – two eyeshadow primers, two blushes, etc. I wanted more focus on products because I was only using it for a month so I limited what I added to the basket. It’s a smaller selection this month… and hopefully that will also mean that I can write up the recap faster because there will be less to write about. 🙂 There are also quite a few carried over from the last round because I hope to make these empties by the end of March!

Without further adieu, here are the products that I put into my basket for the month of March.

shop my stash project pan march 2017

  • Face primer: Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure Oil-Free Skin Smoothing Face Primer (carried over from January/February’s round because I have two of them and my goal is to make them empties! Focus. That is the key here. :))
  • Color correction: NYX Color Correcting Concealer Palette
  • Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles Treatment Concealer with Goji Berry, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer in Medium
  • Foundation / BB Cream: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation in Medium Tan Sand, Rimmel London BB Cream 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup in Medium

  • Highlighter: Anastasia Beverly Hills Gleam Glow Kit, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Opal
  • Bronzer: None, unless you want to count the Chocolate Soleil bronzer in the Too Faced Everything Nice Holiday Palette
  • Setting powder: elf Perfect Finish HD Powder

  • Pore reducer: Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser (carried over from January/February’s round so I can finish it)
  • Eye primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer (carried over from January/February so I can finish it), Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer

shop my stash project pan march 2017

  • Eye shadow (palette or singles): Too Face Everything Nice Holiday Palette, Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

So that’s it for March! I have already been using these items for a couple of weeks now. I have quite a few items that I am hoping I can finish this month so I am expecting quite a few empties in the recap in a few weeks. I’m making a huge push to finish some items this month! I am hoping I am successful. So far, so good… I haven’t strayed from this month’s basket too much.

Check back in a few weeks when I recap my progress for March. 🙂

Have a wonderful week everyone! xo

Shop My Stash Recap: January & February 2017

shop my stash - january and february

Happy March everyone! We are just around the corner from spring! At least, I hope we are. It’s quite the cold snap we are experiencing this week!

Wow! The first two months of my Shop My Stash felt like it flew by! After using these products for about a month and a half now, I’m ready to make some decisions about them… some easier than others.

Before I introduce you to my March lineup, here is a quick recap from the January and February selections. If you’re just joining us now and you don’t know what the Shop My Stash series is all about, please see my introductory post about this. It contains a pretty thorough explanation as to what this is all about. 🙂 So let’s get started! And we really should get started now because there is a lot to cover so go grab a cup of tea or coffee because this is a long one! 😉

The Empties

So I have decided to start with the easy ones. These are the products I finished and will be thrown away. No decision required.. .it’s pretty much just garbage right now. 😉 I can feel my collection getting smaller already! Rather than adding these to a future empties post, I’ll provide a short review of them now.

shop my stash - january and february

Face Primer: Too Faced Primed + Poreless Skin Smoothing Primer
This was already about 85% empty when I started using it again. I really like this primer because it really smooths my skin, making it the perfect “blank canvas”. Definitely one that I will repurchase again! Now that I think about it, this was already my second full size tube I have finished… not to mention, I’m sure I finished at least two small deluxe sizes, as well. This is pretty close to Holy Grail… or maybe it already is!

Setting Powder: Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder
If I can recall, I received this from a past ipsy glam bag and that it came with a small fan brush. I can’t for the life of me find the fan brush! But I finally ended up trying this product and I ended up really loving it! It did a great job setting my makeup and it didn’t look powdery on my skin at all. I was sad that it was just a sample. I know this product is more on the expensive side but I would still repurchase it. I am also curious as to how the other, more popular Laura Mercier translucent setting powder performs. I wonder if that one comes in a smaller deluxe size…

Brow Setting Gel: MAC Cosmetics Brow Set in Translucent
If I want to be completely honest, this is my holy grail brow gel. This was my second tube I have gone through. I didn’t have very much left going into this Shop My Stash. It does an amazing job setting my brows and, unlike others I have tried, it doesn’t make my brows look white and flakey. So yes, this is a fave. And guess what! I already repurchased it. On to the third tube…

Mascara: Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara
I had a couple of these kicking around. I had started using this one back in December on my lower lashes only. I had lash extensions for my vacation at the time so I didn’t have a big need for a  mascara at the time. This one is not bad but it’s not my favourite. I did get racoon eyes sometimes so I wasn’t too impressed. I will likely swap or sell the other one that I have.

Mascara: Guerlain Maxi Lash Intense Volume Mascara
I had this sample that I was really curious about. I started using this in January and immediately after I started using it, I stopped using the Elizabeth Arden one mentioned above. While that one didn’t impress, the Guerlain Maxi Lash was a huge win for me! I love the wand. It’s not too big for my eyes. The bristles are small but I found that it worked really well with my lashes! This mascara added length and volume and I was so impressed with it. I love this sample so much that when I redeemed Shoppers Optimum points a few weeks back, I made sre to get one of these. I really hope the full size is just as good as the sample!

The Keepers

Moving on to the next category: The Keepers. These are the products that I love (or at the very least like) enough to keep it and use it at a future time.

shop my stash - january and february

Eye Primer:  Too Faced Shadow Insurance
This is pretty much my Holy Grail eye primer. This tube has been in use since October… I use it just about every day but since it’s an eye primer, I don’t need very much of it. I love how light it feels on my skin and it does such an amazing job at making my eyeshadow stay put! I have never had any issues with my eye makeup when I use this product. I’m just about done this tube and will be carrying it into March so hopefully it will turn into an empty.

Foundation/BB Cream: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream + Anti-Aging Hydrating Serum + SPF50 in Tan
I picked this up from Ulta when I was in Florida two November’s ago. I picked it up in the shade Tan and can only use it when I’m… well… tanned. 😉 Which means this gets used the most in the summer or if I’m on a winter vacation somewhere tropical. The only reason why I can use this right now is because I was in Hawaii a few months ago. I really do like this foundation! Not only does it have a nice lemon scent, it also provides you with SPF 50. I love it when foundations contain sun protection! This foundation has a thick consistency but because of that, I find that  a little goes a long, long way! This is a medium to full coverage foundation that you can build but I don’t find it to be too heavy or sticky on my face. Love this one! Definitely a keeper. 🙂

Foundation/BB Cream:  NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz
I do adore this BB cream! It provides light to medium coverage and feels so light on my skin. It’s not at all cakey and it doesn’t feel heavy. I love the convenience of this travel size (which proved to be my go-to during my last trip) and I think you do actually get more bang for your buck on this smaller tube than you would purchasing the full size. ($55 CAD for 1.9 oz vs $19 CAD for .58 oz) However, this only works if you use the St. Moritz shade because this is the only one available in the travel size. Either way, I don’t have many BB creams on my radar right now and since I’m so happy with this one, that’s totally okay. The only downside I found? This doesn’t have any sun protection. If it had that, it would be absolutely perfect!

Foundation/BB Cream: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF  20 in Fresh Beige
Not gonna lie, this is my fave foundation right now so it was a no brainer that I was keeping it! This has a nice medium coverage and it feels super light on my skin… like it’s not even there! Fresh Beige is the perfect shade for me right now but next time I go to the US, I will have to pick up a shade lighter for when I’m not tanned. It doesn’t oxide on me and lasts all day. It really doesn’t budge at all when I use a setting powder and spray with it. Plus, it has sun protection in the tune of SPF 20 so that is pretty great too. Honestly, everything about this makes it perfect for me! I’m sad we done get Neutrogena makeup in Canada. This product makes me wonder what else I’m missing out on from this brand.

Concealer:  COVERGIRL Outlast All-Day Concealer in Light
Still one of my favourite drugstore concealers to date! It gives me great coverage without being cakey. I have already raved about this extensively when I reviewed it so I will just leave a link to that post here.

Concealer: Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Concealer in Light/Medium
I am having pretty darn good luck with drugstore concealers lately. I really like this one too! It feels even lighter than the COVERGIRL one but I find that the coverage still works for me. Great for under your eyes and any dark spots. I will definitely continue to use this!

shop my stash - january and february

Eyeliner: IT Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner
I don’t often use pencil or gel liners because I find they don’t work as well as liquid liners with my hooded eyes. But this one is okay! So I will keep it. It doesn’t really smudge like all the others I have tried.

Eyeliner: Ciate Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner
I’m very surprised at how much I like this! It’s easy to use, dries great, and doesn’t budge as the day goes on! I have been using this a lot… just about every day… since December that I just about completely wore out all the silver writing on the tube! Now what does that tell you???

Eyeshadow Primer: Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer
I haven’t even tried this yet so I will keep it and give it a fighting chance in march when my Too Faced one runs out!

Face Primer: MAKE Moonlight Primer
Also a nice surprise! At first I really wasn’t sure about it because it was so dark but in the end it does go on clear and I ended up liking it. I really like how it also moisturizes. This is a keeper but I will be using it sparingly because I’m not sure where I can get more. That’s just fear of running out on my part.

Highlighter: Benefit Watts Up! Softfocus Highlighter for Face
This will always be a fave of mine! It is super easy to use and just gives me the perfect glow in just the right spots. I swear, though, this deluxe sized sample is lasting me forever! We are almost going on years  here.

Blush: Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher in Pearlescent Pink
This is a great colour and this is a great blush! It is very pigmented so you can build it up if you want more colour. Keeping this one in my collection.

Blush: Mellow Face Blush in Bronze
A fave for sure! I am surprised that I like this bronze blush as much as I do but it really is great. When my skinis darker, this adds a very natural look on my cheeks. I imagine this would also make a nice matte bronzer for those with fairer skin.

Mascara Primer: Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Lash Primer
I like this. It does a great job prepping my lashes before I apply mascara and my mascara does stay put! I can’t get this at our local stores yet so I’m also keeping it due to how difficult it is to get here.

shop my stash - january and february

Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
Holy grail. I have been using this on and off for years now and I always go back to it! I can’t help it… it does a great job at keeping my makeup from smudging and makes it last all day long. Great stuff!

Eyeshadows: tarte Tartelette Palette, Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Alchemy
I am just going to talk about all three of these together because I love them all! The tarte Tartelette Palette is made up of some really great neutral matte shades that you can use every day and for any occasion. The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette has such great colours and a mix of matte, shimmer and glitter shades that you can use to make so many looks! This is such a versatile palette. I just love it! And of course, the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Alchemy give any eye look that added sparkle. I use it for all my looks, all the time. I’m so glad I bought backups because I actually hit pan! Here’s a quick look at my usage for each one.

The Rejects

Finally! We have looked at the empties and the loves. Now it’s time for the rejects that I will not be keeping. Other than empties, this is just another way I’m going to use to downsize my collection.

shop my stash - january and february

Face Primer: Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure Oil-Free Skin Smoothing Face Primer
I must say, I just love Too Faced primers! This one, though, is one I think that I have a love-hate relationship with. This is the sensitive skin version which performs just as well as the regular one but I find this one is a bit thicker. It does makes my foundation stay in place but compared to the other one, this one made my skin a bit more oily. I will definitely continue using this deluxe sample until it’s all gone but I’m not too sure if I would purchase it again.

Colour Correction: Make Up Forever Step 1 Redness Correcting Primer
I rarely reached for this at all. I’m not sure why. Maybe colour correction just isn’t my thing? I mean, I forgot about it all the time! As a result, I didn’t use it very much so it’s time to move on.

Pore Reducer: Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
I have been using this for a long time now. Almost two years? And it still hasn’t run out! It does do a good job but I feel like I’m tired of it and that I need a change. I will finish this until it’s gone but I won’t be repurchasing anytime soon. It’s time for a break!

Highlighter: City Color Highlight Trio
This highlighter trio was okay. It did the job and isn’t too overly sparkly. Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a bad product but I have so many other highlighters that I love more.

Brows: Annabelle Brow-To-Go Brow Shaping Kit
Great product but I have had this one for a long time now and it’s getting super messy up to the point where it’s not worth cleaning up. I have another one and other brow products I love so it’s okay for me to let this one go.

Brows: IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil
Again, this one was just okay. It did a good job but it also didn’t make me go “wow!” as much as I wanted it to. I was disappointed because there’s been so much praise for this brow product but it was just okay for me. I will finish this one up but I don’t think I will repurchase it.

That’s all folks! If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me! When I started this endeavor, I didn’t realize how much of a recap I had to do at the end so I will admit, it did take longer than I had expected to post this.

I’m happy with the amount of empties I ended up with (that would be five) and the number of products I decided I could do without (six of ’em). That’s a pretty good start for destashing and using up products in 2017! Looks like the first month and a half was a success so I will keep tally and keep going.

Now we’re well into March so keep a lookout for my March Shop My Stash list this weekend!

Enjoy the rest of your week. 🙂

Hello friends! There’s a new subscription box in town and it’s called Glow Getter!

Glow Getter ( is a seasonal subscription box that ships to your door quarterly as the seasons change. You get four boxes a year and each box contains six or more full-sized products.

Glow Getter is not your typical beauty box. In fact, it leans more towards being a lifestyle box because it features everything from beauty products to accessories to lifestyle and wellness items. Everything which is seasonally appropriate, of course!

This subscription costs $56.00 CAD per season which includes all taxes and shipping. While this is a Canadian subscription service, it is also available to those who are in the United States.

I was super excited to see this subscription box come to life. I am in a number of beauty groups with Natasha, Glow Getter’s founder, so my anticipation was high with this one! I was very happy to see it in my mailbox!

The Spring Glow Getter box contains items from both Canada and the United States. It is a mix of beauty, skincare, body care, jewelry, lifestyle and wellness products. Whew, that was a mouthful! 🙂 Totally worth it because what a great mix for spring! Let’s take a peek at what I received. There were eight products and a bonus item so we have a lot to go through today!

The first item in my box was a Coconut Cream Bath Bomb from Spell Craft Bath ($8.00 CAD). This is a full-sized bath bomb in the shape of a white heart. I’m definitely looking forward to trying this one out. This smells divine! But then again, I adore coconut scents… it reminds me of vacation! And pina coladas. OR my new fave drink that I discovered in Hawaii called a Lava Flow. Delish! 😉 These bath bombs claim to keep your skin smooth and hydrating because they contain the following oils: grapeseed, coconut and vitamin E. This looks like it’s the perfect thing to use during the colder and drier months… especially here in Alberta! Please note that other subscribers may have received this product in the scent Pink Sands.

Next up is  an item for your home. This hand poured Soy Candle in Garden Mint from Heirloom Candles ($5.00 CAD, 2 oz). It’s so cute! It is not overly minty or overly floral but it is a good balance. I love this scent because it reminds me of my mint plants in my garden. I love keeping mint in my garden so that I can infuse it in my drinking water. The scent is so fresh! This candle will come in very handy when I try the bath bomb. Soothing, relaxing baths and candles are complimentary and go so great together!

The first beauty item I received was the Manna Kadar Paradise Blush ($25.00 CAD). If you can recall, I received this in my January ipsy and I already very much like it! (A swatch of this shade can also be found on the ipsy unboxing post.). It’s a very nice pearlized pink blush that you can lightly put on your cheekbone or build up for more colour. It’s very versatile in that manner. This is already in my vanity and in rotation so I may keep this one as a back up!

Next, let’s talk skincare! I received a full-sized bottle of Delia Organics’ Restore Treatment ($40.00 CAD, 30 ml). This is a very light and very quick absorbing facial oil. You don’t need to use very much as a little goes a long way! I love that this is 100% natural and that it’s fragrance free. This will appeal to a lot of people! It is said to soften fine lines and wrinkles and hydrate your skin… among a number of other things! I can definitely say that it does absorb very quickly and that it is not at all greasy.  I am finding it very nice on my skin. I don’t often use facial oils but this one has impressed me so I will continue to use it.

The wellness product in January was a Larabar in the Peanut Butter flavour ($3.00 CAD, 48 g). I have never tried this energy bar before but I’ve seen this around at Shoppers Drug Mart and my local grocery establishments so it’s easy to get ahold of if you end up falling in love with it. I would be lying if I didn’t say I was curious! I Plus, I adore peanut butter so I am happy I received this flavour! I will likely take this bar to work for those hunger emergencies during busy days where I am running from meeting to meeting. It doesn’t happy every day but it does happen! Or I will try it before a workout. We’ll see!

I love jewelry! So I was super happy to see that a Day and Co Jewelry Hand Stamped Bracelet ($24.00 CAD) was included in the Spring Box! Each bracelet is hand stamped with a different saying and were available in three metals: copper, aluminum and brass. The one I received was in brass and it says “Let Your Light Shine”. So cute and so inspirational! It is very light and it does bend so if you’re like me and have super small wrists, you can do a little bit of adjustments to make it fit so that it won’t fall off. The fact that it came with a cleaning cloth is great, too. Can I just say that this is also a local brand from right here in Alberta? I love being able to support local businesses so I’m super happy to see one of them make it into the Glow Getter box!

I did receive another makeup product. The Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Eye and Lip Pencil in Girlypink ($16.00 CAD) is a multi-purpose pencil! Lip liner, eyeliner, lipstick, eyeshadow… you name it, you can  use it that way! But knowing my personal preference when it comes to pink shades, I will likely only use this on my lips. It’s very rare that I use these bolder pinks on my eyes. Girlypink will work with a lot of my rose and berry lip colours.

I have used this next skin care product before and I really do love this product! The Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator ($6.00 CAD, 20 g deluxe size) is an amazing exfoliating cleanser! I have used up one of these tubes before and I’m on my second one now. I’m glad that I now have a backup for what was my backup! 😉 At 20 g in size, this is the only non-full-sized product in this box but that’s okay! In my experience, my last tube lasted a long, long time. A little goes a long way for sure. I find this to be such a gentle scrub that works and I found it to work well on my skin. This was already a big fave of mine so I was happy to see this. As much as I love being exposed to new products, I also love to see favorites, as well.

The last item I am going to write about is a bonus item in this box. It is another product from Skone Cosmetics and it is their Smudger Brush ($20.00 CAD). This brush is a lot smaller than my other smudger brushes but that’s a good thing. This one looks like it will be great to use for smaller details such as applying or smudging eyeliner or for add some detail to the corners of your eyes. The bristles feels dense but are soft so that if you do use it on your eyes, you’re not poking your eyes out with prickly bristles. I think I will really like this brush!

Oh wait! I am not quite done yet. Some of you may have noticed this in my Instagram teaser post but there is something pink in the middle of the box. It is shaped kinda like a diamond but I wasn’t really sure what it was for. So I asked Natasha and it turns out that it serves multiple purposes. Not only does it help keep the box from getting crushed while it’s on it’s way to you, once you receive it, it can also be used in a variety of ways. You can flip it on its side and use it to keep your Beauty Blender clean or put a tea light underneath it and it becomes decorative.

I also love that these two tea recipe cards were included in the box. This is a great idea! I love teas myself so I will definitely be trying out these detox tea recipes.

And that, my friends, wraps up our unboxing the the Spring 2017 Glow Getter box today. The total value of this box, including the bonus, was $147.00 CAD which I think is fab! It is worth it for the amount I paid and I found the products to be of quality. I was super impressed with the variety you can find in this box! It really does feature a little bit of everything which is fab! I was super happy with this inaugural Spring 2017 box from Glow Getter that I am really looking forward to seeing what is in store for us for summer!
