For the Love of Lippies: Annabelle Lipsies Review

And my love of lippies continues! I’m not purposely on a quest for new lip loves… I just seem to stumble upon them. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, is it? Nah, of course not!

I have been wanting to write this review for a long, long time now but life was busy for awhile so it had to wait. So now that I’m back to blogging, I am super excited to be writing this review to share with you a new spring love of mine – Annabelle Lipsies.

What are Annabelle Lipsies you ask? Well, they are quite possibly the best lip balm in pencil form that I have ever tried. And honestly, I am not a fan of pencil lip balms or lipsticks for that matter. At all. I have tried a few and my lips always dried out or the consistency didn’t feel right or something… there was always something. So this was a nice surprise!

Annabelle Lipsies used to be a limited edition product until they brought them back permanently this spring. So light-weight on your lips, they come in 10 delicious fruity and two dessert scents! They range from a clear gloss to nudes and then to some brighter hues so there’s something for everyone regardless of whether you prefer a clear gloss or a tinted gloss.

It’s funny actually… because before their PR folks contacted me and told me that I had a couple on the way, I couldn’t wait! So when I saw that Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) was having a 2 for $6 sale on these, I decided to pick up a couple hoping that I didn’t pick any colors that were on the way! And luckily, I had some good guesses.

I picked up Raspberry and Grapefruit at SDM. These are two very bright colors that are perfect for spring! When I first tried one on, what I noticed right away was how easy it was to apply. It just glided right on! I also noted that it was very glossy and felt moisturizing without being sticky which I really liked. It also gives off quite a bit of color – more than I expected! Let’s just say that I fell in love with Raspberry instantly and that stayed in my purse. 🙂

So a quick rundown and review of the colors I have tried out so far…

Grapefruit: A lovely subtle pink. Great for every day wear. And it smells delicious!

Raspberry: My favorite so far! It is one of the darker ones and is a beautiful berry color. Love, love, love!

Lychee*: This is one of the ones I received from Annabelle and I was super hesitant to try it because nudes just don’t work on me. I am happy to say that I did try it and I think it’s great! It’s the only nude lip that I have tried that didn’t make my lips paler than the rest of my skin. I was a happy camper and I will continue to use it!

Cherry*: This is a great red to have in your lippies arsenal. I am saying this because it is nicely tinted but isn’t too intense that you can definitely wear this on a day to day basis without giving it a second thought. This one might be my second favorite of the four.

The colors are all sheer to a point and so far I am finding that the ones that I have tried really work with my natural lip color and actually help enhance it. I think that’s great!

Overall, I was very impressed with this product. It’s so convenient, it’s super moisturizing, and it adds a pop of color! And honestly, at $4.95 CAN each, it is super affordable! Even moreso because it is carried at your local drugstore or supermarket and you will likely find it on sale at some point. I have seen Annabelle at Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, London Drugs, Walmart, and Superstore so it is widely available in Canada. It can also be purchased at annabelle.ca online. And yes, they do ship to the US!

Have you tried this yet? If you have, which Lipsies flavour is your favourite? If you haven’t, which one are you eager to try? Let me know in the comments below!

Enjoy the rest of your day folks! The weekend is right around the corner!

xoxo
