I don’t know about you but I am absolutely mystified by how fast the weekends go. The more jam packed they are, the faster they seem to go! Then by the end of it all, you’re left asking yourself how exactly did it become Monday all of the sudden? That was me today.
Happy Monday folks! 🙂 And for Monday, here is a skin care review.
When it comes to looking for an exfoliating facial cleanser, I have had my struggles in the past. Many were too rough for my sensitive skin. A few times I found one that is great for my skin but the price tag was a bit on the hefty side. Enter Amie Skincare, a very affordable brand with some pretty amazing products.
You may have read my previous Amie review (and if you have not, you can read it here) where I just absolutely raved about their Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash and Morning Dew Matte-Finish Moisturizer products – both of which I still use all the time today! When I was given the chance to try more products from this company, I did not hesitate one bit!
To summarize, Amie is a cruelty free UK brand created by Fiona Parkhouse. She created this line for her daughter Samantha. This line is made up of natural ingredients, is pH balanced and is without parabens, mineral oils, sulphates, petrochemicals and animal extracts. This line is meant to be gentle on your skin and are dermatologically tested.
The next product I tried is the Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Daily Wash. When I first received it, I opened it up and was just floored by the scent. It smelled delicious! But don’t get me wrong – you are not meant to eat this! You may want to but please, do not eat it! 😉 It just smells so heavenly and so refreshing! Reading the ingredients, I soon found out why – it contains green apple, lemon extract, blueberry seeds and vitamin E bursting beads. The fruits make it smell so good. I’m talking SO good. I’m obsessed!
I have been using this product for about a month and a half now so I think (I hope!) this is an informed review.
Now, putting aside the fact that it smells deliciously fruity (because it does!), at the end of the day, it is an exfoliating face cleanser. When you squeeze it out of the tube, it is a green gel with tiny white microbeads. It is rough to the touch, like any other exfoliating cleanser, if you rub it between your fingers.
To use this product, wet your face and then massage into your skin in circular motions. As they recommend on their site, I did pay more attention to my T-zone which is more prone to blackheads and sebaceous filaments.
I was very skeptical of the word “daily” because in my experience, exfoliators were only used once, maybe twice a week, because my skin is very sensitive to it. However, after a few uses, I soon realized that the whole “daily” thing is entirely possible! I found the formulation of this cleanser to be extremely gentle and the beads were not harsh at all.
I find myself using it every other day and sometimes even daily, usually at night before I go to bed. I found that it does wash off my makeup… well, except for my eye makeup. The microbeads would not be good for that so I use a cotton round with my Bioderma micellar water first, before washing my face with this cleanser. Just the fact that I can use it daily and my skin is looking and feeling better than ever says a lot considering I have extremely sensitive skin.
Overall, I was really happy with this exfoliating cleanser! While it doesn’t make all my blackheads and sebaceous filaments disappear (that’s a tall order for any product, really) it still helped quite a bit. My skin feels soft after each use and it has also cleared up a bit since I started using this and Amie’s other cleanser, the Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash in the mornings. This is definitely something I will repurchase again and again in the future!
I am really happy to have discovered the Amie Skincare brand. I have been so in love with everything I have tried so far and I’m looking forward to trying more.
If you are in Canada, you can find this line in the natural skin care section at Shoppers Drug Mart. Otherwise, if you are in the UK or US, you can find where you can buy it in stores here or you can always purchase directly from the Amie Skincare site.
