Review: Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil and Lipidol Overnight Face Oil – ChickAdvisor

lipidol cleansing oil and lipidol overnight oil review

Curious about oils? From the makers of Bio-Oil, comes a new line called Lipidol and consists of six skin care and body oil products. I was happy to have been chosen by ChickAdvisor to try out two of their new facial oils – one for cleansing and one for moisturizing.

The first product I received was the Lipidol Cleansing Oil. I will admit, I don’t have much experience with cleansing oils. Going into this trial, I had only tried one oil cleanser from The Face Shop and it had only semi-impressed me.  I liked it because it was great at removing my makeup but I found that when I used that oil cleanser, I still had to use my cream cleanser because I didn’t feel “clean” yet. Honestly, that turned me off oil cleansers… until now anyways!

This cleansing oil has a similar consistency to Bio-Oil. It has a light, watery consistency. It has little to no fragrance so it’s great for those who are sensitive to scents. It is meant to

Remove dirt and make-up without stripping the skin’s natural oily layer.

That sounds like a good thing, right?

Before I get into my experience with this product, I currently have normal to dry skin. Well, mostly normal skin with a few dry patches on my cheek. For those of you who have oily skin, it is often a misconception that oils will make your skin even oilier. I’ve heard they don’t do that at all so feel free to consider trying this out.

I have been using this cleansing oil on and off for around two weeks now. It is super easy to use. You just apply it to your dry skin and massages it into your skin. Dirt and makeup will bind to the oil. Then add a little bit of water and the oil will start to emulsify. It doesn’t take very much water to get the oil to lather and turn into a thicker, milky substance. After massaging it a little more, simply rinse.

The Cleansing Oil Verdict? At times I found it messy to apply but resolved this by using a cotton pad. Just put a little bit on a cotton pad and apply it to your face. Add a bit of water and massage your face. I found it very easy to rinse off. After using this, my skin doesn’t feel greasy like it has an oily residue. My skin feels very clean and and it doesn’t feel tight at all like with other cleansers. It did manage to remove my makeup. Overall, I was quite impressed with this product, though, I will admit I still prefer cream or gel cleansers. That being said, I will still continue to use this cleansing oil because I honestly do like it. Enough to even repurchase it when this one is finished! Honestly this is the best cleansing oil I have tried so far!

Next we have the Lipidol Overnight Oil. Again, I have limited experience with moisturizing oils – the only one I have tried is a deluxe sample of Sunday Riley’s Luna which I really like but don’t use consistently because I have been very stingy with it. It’s a super expensive product and I’m not quite ready to drop that much money for a full size! So having a more affordable alternative was attractive to me. Granted, this one does not have retinol but that’s okay. So for the most part, I have been using cream or gel moisturizers. And let’s face it, I am a bit skeptical about going to bed with oil on my face. I mean, what about my pillows? 😉

The Overnight Oil is meant to increase moisture retention, enhance overnight rejuvination and

Supplements the skin’s natural oily layer stripped away by daily exposure to the elements.

The instructions for the Overnight Oil is simple and can be summed up in one line – apply to face before going to bed.

The Overnight Oil Verdict? Honestly, you do not need to apply very much at all. It feels very light on my skin. It absorbs really quickly in the first place but I like to apply it a little bit before bedtime to give the oil time to really absorb into my skin. It left no oil on my pillows which is a huge plus. Application was super easy and I thought this was quite nice.

When I wake up in the morning after using this, my skin feels moisturized and so soft! Even the dry patches don’t feel as dry anymore! This was awesome because until now, it’s been rare to find a moisturizer that works so well on my dry patches. Usually nothing really helps. Because of this, I will definitely continue to use this overnight oil. Maybe not every day but at least a couple of times a week.

At the end of the day, I am happy about being able to try these Lipidol products. These are two products that I can safely say I would be willing to repurchase in the future.

Both products are available at Walmart Canada now. I saw it in store the last time I was there a few weeks ago. 🙂 Both the Cleansing Oil (125 ml) and Overnight Oil (50 ml) are super affordable at $8.97 CAN so it’s definitely worth a try if you are curious! At less than $10 apiece, these two are a steal!

Thank you ChickAdvisor and Lipidol for the chance to try these out and find a new love to add to my skin care regimen!

Have you tried anything from Lipidol yet? Thoughts? And if you haven’t, will you?
