Hope you are having a great week! I am kicking off my weekend early so I think that’s pretty great. It’s a busy weekend ahead so it’s nice to have that one extra day to get some housework and errands done so for that I am thankful. 🙂
But tonight, I’m taking it easy and doing a little bit of blogging. So here goes – I’m here to do a Charlotte Tibury review. Honestly, this may as well be a “YouTube Made Me Buy It!” type post because that’s where I first learned about these.
I had seen this brand around on the interwebs and Holt Renfrew started carrying it not too long ago. In fact, until Holts started carrying it, this UK brand really wasn’t easily available in Canada! Unfortunately, it was never available in my Holts store so I could never just try it out to see what I liked. I never realized that the official site shipped to Canada for free until just recently so when I made this discovery, I decided to put in an order for a couple of things. Why? Because curiosity got the best of me. And their packaging has a lot of rose gold. What can I say? I can’t say no to rose gold.:D
I did a little bit of research and chose two fan favourites that I see all the time in blogs and YouTube in hopes that this would not be a complete bust. (I am still a bit miffed that I could not swatch these in store.) I was really hoping for the best!
The first item I chose was one of their lip glosses. The Lip Lustre in Seduction, described as a nude colour, seemed like a safe choice. When I received it, it looked like a soft pink nude. Essentially something that I can toss into my purse and wear day to day at the office. And with a pricier lip gloss, I would expect it to be an everyday lippie because I like to get my moneys worth!
The Seduction Lip Lustre goes on smooth and it smells a little bit sweet. It is really creamy and I don’t find it very sticky at all. When I have this on, you can’t really see it – it doesn’t wash out my lips or give them colour. But it does give it a bit of a shine – just not too much. It’s a nice nude lip but I’m not sure if I would get this again. I’d prefer a little bit of colours and now I’m wishing that I purchased High Society instead. Colours aside, I still really like the formulation of this lip gloss.
The second item I chose was their Lip Cheat Re-Shape & Re-Size Lip Liner in Pillow Talk. This is definitely my lip colour but better! I have tried it two ways so far – as a true lip liner and alone all over my lips. As a lip liner, I adore it! It goes well with nude lip colours or ones that are on the lighter pink side. As an all over colour, it looks great, too! It is very matte on me and the colour looks amazing! I totally see why so many people rave about Pillow Talk. The only downside that I found was that it was pretty dry on my lips and I am not a fan of that feeling. I wish it was a little bit creamier because then it would be perfect.
Overall, I really like the Lip Lustre and Lip Cheat. I think I definitely should have picked another colour for the Lip Lustre. Something more pigmented on my lips. And while I will definitely be using the Lip Cheat as a lip liner, I’m not so sure about using it all over my lips. It’s worth trying out these products but keep in mind it is a bit more on the expensive side. These are more of a splurgy product.
