Review: Roger & Gallet Le Soin Aura Mirabilis Skincare – GlamSense

glamsense roger & gallet aura mirabilis

Looking for a flawless complexion? This beauty ritual may be able to help you with that!

I don’t often receive pretty packages in the mail so when this arrived, it took me completely by surprise! It was such a surprise to learn that I was chosen for the Roger & Gallet GlamSense campaign. If I can recall correctly, I had a tough day so this sure put a smile on my face! I mean, who doesn’t love getting mail, honestly? 🙂 (Seriously,  though. How pretty is this box? It has Eiffel Towers all over it!)

From what I have seen on social media, there were a number of different boxes that were sent out. I received Box 1 which contained the Roger & Gallet Le Soin Aura Mirabilis beauty ritual.

This range contains four products which uses a natural remedy called Aura Mirabilis. This remedy was created nearly 300 years ago by monks and was meant to be used for a number of ailents. It contains 18 distilled officinal plants selected for their healing properties. Roger & Gallet now own this formula. 🙂

(Seriously,  though. How pretty is this box? It has Eiffel Towers all over it!)

The plants found in this product includes sandalwood, geranium, neroli, green mandarin, citronelle, magnolia, lemon zest, thyme, lavendin, damask rose, bitter orange leaf, bergamot, sweet orange, lemongrass, lavender, palmarosa, may change and rosemary.

The ritual has four products and four steps:

  1. Detoxify using the Extra-Fine Cleansing Mask
Suitable for sensitive skin, this can be used as a mask or a cleanser. It removes make up and once water comes into contact with it, it turns into virginal milk which detoxifies the skin. (Virginal milk is what was used in the 18th Century to conserve porcelain skin.) This cleanser has a gel consistency and has a very pleasant scent. It smells floral but it is not overpowering at all! I am not a fan of floral scents but found that I really liked the scent. After using this cleanser, I found my skin was left very soft and it wasn’t drying. I enjoyed this cleanser. I will have to try it as a mask one day!

(Seriously,  though. How pretty is this box? It has Eiffel Towers all over it!)

  2. Refine using Beauty Vinegar
If you are like me, you are probably raising an eyebrow right now. What on Earth is “Beauty Vinegar”? In the 18th Century, cleansing vinegars made from flowers, fruits or spices were used for cleansing and preserving your skin’s complexion. Well to answer the question of “what is it?”, Beauty Vinegar is used as a toner. I found that using a cotton pad was the easiest way to apply it to my face. The scent is, again, very pleasant – there’s nothing “vinegar” about it! I also found it to be very gentle on my skin. A few benefits of this product is that it removes pollution residue and traces of makeup, smooths skin and clarifies your complexion and it refines skin texture and tightens pores.

(Seriously,  though. How pretty is this box? It has Eiffel Towers all over it!)

  3. Restore with Double-Extract
This is an essence or serum used after toning but before applying moisturizer. This is an ultra-concentrated serum and helps visibly reduce the signs of aging and wrinkles to help reveal radiant skin. Other benefits include correcting irregularities, restoring skin’s barrier and protecting against external aggressors and helps keep skin radiant and hydrated. Smells wonderful (again!) and applies very nicely. It absorbs ever so quickly and isn’t sticky or leaves a residue. The bottle is unique too – due to an innovative pre-dosing system, when you shake the bottle, the right amount of serum is dispensed. It’s just enough for your face and neck and you’re not wasting any product. Good stuff!

  4. Renew with Legendary Cream
The moisturizing step in the ritual. This moisturizer is said to even skin complexion and protect against aging, illuminate skin complexion and renews skin, invigorating skin cells acting against signs of dehydration and discomfort. It’s a very nice cream, very light and quick to absorb in your skin. Plus, like the other products, it smells very nice! After using this moisturizer cream, my skin is left feeling soft and smooth. It’s such a luxurious cream!

When it comes to skincare, I like to test products for a few weeks before reviewing them but being on vacation when I first received this prevented me from doing that. With the limited time I had to use these products before providing my reviews to GlamSense, I got a feel for each product.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the Aura Mirabilis skincare line, especially the serum and moisturizer. I already use a skincare regimen that contains a cleanser, toner, serum and moisturizer so it was easy for me to incorporate in my morning and evening routine. 🙂

For me, I will continue to use these products. I would repurchase one or all of these products because I really like them!

Thank you GlamSense for letting me try these products! I have discovered some new favourites! 🙂

Have you tried any products from Roger & Gallet? Thoughts?

Cover Girl The Super Sizer Mascara – BzzAgent Review

Greetings folks! Long time no post! I truly do apologize for that. Life certainly got in the way of me blogging this past month – with wrapping up the camping season, trying to get the house back in order (not quite there yet but almost!), traveling, working my full time job, etc, it has been really difficult to keep up with the blog. However, now that we are in the swing of things for fall, I hope that life will slow down enough that I can finally partake in my favorite hobby again. I miss it so much!

So dear reader, I’m here to tell you about a product that I received from BzzAgent. I have once again had the privilege to be chosen by BzzAgent to try out a new product. For those of you unfamiliar with BzzAgent, it is a website which gives regular folks like me a chance to voluntarily participate in word-of-mouth campaigns for products and services. How it works is that you fill out surveys – super easy and quick surveys! – and they pick you if they think you are suitable for a specific campaign.

When you are chosen, you are given the option to join the campaign or decline it. If you choose to accept, they send you the product, you try it out for awhile and then you “Bzz” about it. To “Bzz” just means sharing your honest opinions about it online and off.

For this particular campaign, I had the opportunity to try a new product from Cover Girl – The Super Sizer Mascara.

For the Love of Lippies: NARS Audacious Lipstick in “Anna”

I’m obsessed!

With a lipstick, that is.

I have been lusting over NARS Audacious lipsticks for awhile now but I found it a little too expensive and a little too out of my budget for a single lipstick. It wasn’t until the last VIB Rouge sale a few weeks ago when I finally caved. And the reason for caving is two-fold:

For the Love of Lippies: Annabelle Lipsies Review

And my love of lippies continues! I’m not purposely on a quest for new lip loves… I just seem to stumble upon them. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, is it? Nah, of course not!

I have been wanting to write this review for a long, long time now but life was busy for awhile so it had to wait. So now that I’m back to blogging, I am super excited to be writing this review to share with you a new spring love of mine – Annabelle Lipsies.

What are Annabelle Lipsies you ask? Well, they are quite possibly the best lip balm in pencil form that I have ever tried. And honestly, I am not a fan of pencil lip balms or lipsticks for that matter. At all. I have tried a few and my lips always dried out or the consistency didn’t feel right or something… there was always something. So this was a nice surprise!

Holiday Beauty + Giveaway: Annabelle Cosmetics Stay Sharp Waterproof Eyeliner and Lipliner

Happy Weekend everyone! I hope you are all warm and cozy!

I am super excited to be writing this post as it combines two of my favorite things: makeup and the holidays!

Annabelle Cosmetics has a few products that I think would be an excellent addition to your holiday look. I had the chance to try them out and with impressive results! Also be sure to stay tuned to the end of this post for something very exciting!

annabelle cosmetics stay sharp eyeliners and lipliners (from top: glam red lipliner, go black eyeliner, java lipliner, cappuccino eyeliner)

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the company Annabelle Cosmetics, they are a Canadian company based out of Montreal, Quebec. They are a great company whose products have a great price point, can be easily found in stores, are usually paraben-free and they do not test on animals.

This past August, Annabelle Cosmetics launched the Stay Sharp line. This line consists of two products: the Stay Sharp Waterproof Eyeliner and the Stay Sharp Waterproof Lipliner.

The concept of these products is great! Essentially, they are self-sharpening pencils – there is no need to look for a pencil sharpener ever again! Which I think is great since I seem to always be misplacing mine. Even if the tip breaks on you, it’s easy enough to just sharpen it with the cap. Another plus is that it does not leave a mess – the lead shavings are kept inside the cap. These products are sure to provide convenience to your makeup routine.

A few other key features of the product include:

  • Fine tip for extra-precise application
  • Extreme soft lead for a smooth, gliding application
  • Waterproof formula
  • Intense pigmentation for best color pay off and coverage
  • The eyeliners currently come in six colors: Go Black (black), Cappuccino (dark brown), Graphite (dark grey), Midnight (blue), Ultraviolet (purple) and Forest (green)
  • The lipliners also come in six colors: Nude, Java (light brown), Glam Red (bright red), Berry, Strike a Rose (pink) and Vintage (rose).

I have been using these products for a couple of weeks now and I’m quite impressed! They are quality products that are so simple to use and does the job for any look – casual or glam!

First off, to address the waterproof claim, when I first got these pencils, I swatched them on my hand and left it there. All day! After washing my hands many times that day and just going about my daily life, the swatches stayed put. It was great! I couldn’t even rub it off! Trust me, I tried!

Now, let’s take a look at the eyeliners. I was able to try the colors “Go Black”, which is a black eyeliner, and “Cappuccino” which is dark brown. The lead is indeed, very soft! It glides on and does not tug on my eyelid at all. It was very easy to use if you just wanted to go casual but it was also easy to build up if you want a more intense dramatic eye look. I found the eyeliners to be very long wearing. On a typical day, I put it on at 6 am and it would still be there in the evening when I wash my face.

I usually use black eyeliner as my daily go-to color but I found the brown one to be great, too. More specifically, I really enjoyed using it on my bottom lash line because it really added to it to get a more complete eye look! It is a very dark brown which almost looks black if you intensify it on your upper lash line.

The lipliners are just as nice! I will admit, I don’t use lip liner often. With that being said, this one just might change my mind! I’ve tried some very dry lipliners that were difficult to apply before but this was something different. With the soft lead, it goes on very easily. The fine tip made outlining my lips very precise. You can either use this with a lipstick of your choice (might I suggest one of Annabelle’s Twist Up Retractable Lipstick Crayons?) or, seeing as the lead is very soft, you can even fill in your lips with the lipliner itself. I have tried both and am happy with wearing it either way! The lipliner has such rich coloring and it does tend to last for awhile on my lips.

The colors I tried were “Glam Red”, which is a bright red, and “Java”, a softer shade that works well with nudes and soft rose colors.

Whether you just want a casual day look for the office or look glamorous for a holiday party or two, I think these two products are great and will help you complete your look! Take a look at these two full looks – one casual look I wore to the office that day and one a bit more glam that I will wear to a Christmas party – I created using these products.
