Unboxing + Review: Boxycharm August 2017 Beach Please

boxycharm august 2017

First off, I’m so sorry for the lack of updates! I was feeling under the weather for a good park of a week… well, more than a week… and then the last two weekends were just so busy with camping and the Edmonton Expo in the mix! So this is coming a bit late – I fully admit that – so I won’t delay it any further!

Boxycharm’s theme for the month of August was Beach Please. It was jam packed with five amazing full-sized products!

The first one was a brush set… and I don’t know about you but I can alway say yes to new brushes! 😉 The Moda Pro 3-Piece Brush Set from Royal + Langnickel ($26.00 USD) features a pointed blush brush, a chisel blender brush and a crease brush. Each brush has a nice matte black gripped handle. I am most excited about the blush brush (BMX-130). It is so soft and fluffy and I know it will be great for my powder blushes and setting powder needs. It reminds me of my blush brush from Real Techniques that I adore. The other brushes look great too. I’m sure I will use all three of them.

Next is the Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in 02 Ebony ($15.00 USD). This is the only questionable item in my box. And I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way at all. After doing Shop My Stash for a a good part of the year, I discovered that I heavily favour liquid liners. I rarely ever use pencil or gel liners now. That being said, I think I will pass this on to someone who will really appreciate it!

The PUR Pro Eyelashes in Diva ($14.00 USD) looks amazing. I bet I could have a fuller lash look with these on! I don’t often wear false lashes because I’m just awful at putting them on. I definitely need practice! I do really want to try these, though. And if I can ever figure them out and master applying false lashes, it says that these are good for 30 wears. 😉

This next one is so pretty! I received the #GRLPWR Liquid Lipstick in the shade Date Night from The Beauty Corp ($1.95 USD). This is such an Olivia colour! 😉 It goes on smoothly and doesn’t make my lips feel dry so I really like this. It is enriched with shae butter and vitamin E so that explains it’s moisturizing properties. Anyways, it’s a nice liquid lippie!

And finally, I was saving the best for last! I received the tarte Rainforest of the Sea: Volume II eyeshadow palette ($36.00 USD). I am a huge fan of the tarte eyeshadows I already have – including the first Rainforest of the Sea palette – so this was so great to see in my Boxycharm! It includes eight cool toned shades that can be used to create some great shimmery looks.

So that’s it for August. It was a pretty great box! Valued at $105.95 USD (that is $132.46 CAD based on today’s exchange rate) this is a high-value box! Other than the eyeliner, I loved everything in it! I really can’t complain!

What did you think of August’s Boxycharm?

Unboxing + Review: ipsy July 2017 Over Easy

ipsy July 2017

ipsy summers are ultra chill… or in the case of July’s bag, it’s just Over Easy.

Over Easy is the them for July and the bag features Gudetama, and over easy egg. Gudetama was created by Sanrio, the same brains behind Hello Kitty, Keroppi and other cute characters. Gudetama looks a little sad, though. I’m don’t know why. He really shouldn’t be! I love Sanrio characters and have loved them since I was a pre-teen and there were still Sanrio stores around here. I’ll give this sad egg a chance. 🙂

But right now, let’s see what was in the bag!

ipsy July 2017 trestique

The first item I received was the treStiQue Mini Concealer Crayon in Bisque (price and size of product is unknown). Now how handy and convenient is this? A concealer pencil that’s super portable! This concealer has a creamy texture that provides medium to full coverage. It is coconut-infused making it hydrating for those who have dry undereyes. I’m glad I received this. 🙂

ipsy July 2017 seraphine botanicals

Next, we have the Seraphine Botanicals Ginger + Gold Peach & Gold Frosting Blush ($14.00 USD, 3 g). This is so so so my colour! So it’s safe to say that I’m happy about it! This is a nice smooth blush with ginger, lychee, mangosteen and chamomile extracts. Because of these ingredients, you can smell it in the pan but not when you apply it. I also love that it’s mineral oil, paraben and phthalates free. It’s also hypo-allergenic so my sensitive skin is thankful! Love this blush!

ipsy July 2017 modicum

I also received the Modicum Essential Serum ($12.50 USD, 5 ml). I have always been uncertain about oils on my skin. More often than not, I end up breaking out a bit. The tarte one is probably the only exception. This serum is packed chock full of oils and it’s plant based so it’s said to be great for problematic skin. It also has anti-aging benefits. They also say that it has healing properties for chronic skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. It does have a strong scent, though, and I’m not a fan so that, in addition to it being an “uncertain oil”, I think I will take a pass.

ipsy July 2017 tarte cosmetics

This next one is fun – the tarte cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel ($1.50 CAD, 7.5 ml) is an excellent cleanser. How do I know this? Because I have already used it before! It is super great for cleansing makeup and it’s really gentle, too. And if you don’t like strong scents, this is great because it’s super subtle. I am going to save this small travel sized bottle for my next vacation. It’s great for travel. 🙂

ipsy July 2017 bellapierre cosmetics

Last item! And it’s quite intriguing. It is the Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder ($35.00 USD, 4 g)! I gotta admit… I’ve always been curious about banana powders for colour correction and this is the first time I’ve gotten my hands on one so I’m super excited about it! Also, this is a full sized product so that’s pretty great!  I haven’t tried it yet because I’ve been trying to get through my current concealer in my Shop My Stash basket but I’m going to have to try it soon. I will try it to set my makeup under my eyes maybe. I hope it works well!

That’s it for July’s bag. The overall value for this month is $78.94 CAD at the very least… I’m not sure what the value of the treStiQue concealer is… but that’s still pretty good! Considering I like every item except the serum, the bag is worth it this month.

I’m still waiting for my August ipsy to come in the mail so it will be a little while yet before that unboxing but I hope to get it up sooner than later!

ipsy glam bag January 2015 Unboxing and Review

This is the first ipsy post of the new year! Yes, yes, I do realize that it is February right now. And yes, I realize this post is a bit late.

[Update on March 22, 2015: My apologies that this post has come as late as it has. When I first started writing this post, I had every intention to finish it within a day or two. But stuff got in the way. Without going into much detail about my personal life, it involved some worry, a lot of stress about so many things all at once and work became exponentially busy. Throw into that a trip to Atlanta! And here we are towards the end of March. I am happy to say that my personal life is back to normal now even though work still keeps me busy. I hope to get back into a regular blogging schedule in April.]

I won’t blabber on much longer, let’s get started!
