January Empties – Products I Have Used Up and Throwaways – 2018

january empties

It has been a long time since my last empties post! I had a huge backlog of empty products that I just got rid of back in November… it got to be too much to document! It was overwhelming! So I’m starting over. Here are my empties from December 2017 and January. 🙂 There are quite a few of them so it’s been a good two months!

Included in this post are empties and throwaways. Empties are the ones I have used up whereas throwaways are just products that I really didn’t like or were expired.

Makeup Empties

Product: Smashbox Photo Finish More Than Primer Blemish Control (deluxe size, 7 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This was surprisingly a very good primer. I did notice a reduction in my hormonal breakouts while I was using it but I wasn’t using it long enough to determine if it’s because of the salicylic acid in this product or something else. At the end of the day, it did a good job keeping my makeup in place so I would repurchase this… except, I don’t know if this was discontinued because it’s no longer on the Smashbox or Sephora sites.

Product: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (deluxe, 7 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I remember years and years ago when this was the very first face primer I have ever used. By using this sample, I remember just how much I like it. It feels light on my skin and keeps my makeup set in place. I really don’t have complaints about this product. It’s an oldie but a goodie! 🙂

Product: Wet n Wild proline Felt Tip Eyeliner (full size, 0.5 g)
Rating (out of 5): 2
Repurchase?: No
Thoughts: Not the best liquid eyeliner I have used… the pen dried up rather quickly. It was easy to apply my eyeliner until it started to dry up. It was okay and the price was really good but I’m not sure I would buy this again. I think I will stick to my tried and true Kat Von D liquid eyeliner.

Makeup Throw Aways

Product: Too Faced Sketch Marker in Black (full size, 0.45 g)
Rating (out of 5): 3
Repurchase?: Maybe
Thoughts: This is pretty old and I haven’t used it in a long time. If I am going to be honest, I don’t remember if it was good and it’s too old for me to use now to make that determination.

Product: theBalm Mr. Write (Now) in Jac (full size, 0.28 g)
Rating (out of 5): 2
Repurchase?: No
Thoughts: This eyeliner is all dried up. I haven’t used it in a long time and I don’t think I liked it that much. This one was a pass for me.

Product: trestique Mini Brow Pencil in Espresso (deluxe size, 0.13 g)
Rating (out of 5): 2
Repurchase?: No
Thoughts: I just received this from ipsy a couple of months ago and was disappointed when I finally used it. It felt dry and was hard to apply. I wasn’t a fan so it’s time to let this one go.

Lip Balm Empties

I seem to use lip balm a lot. Like A LOT. Enough that I have a ton of empties!

Product: Softlips Luxe in Silky Shea and Creamy Coconut (full size, 3.7g)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I received both of these lip balms from Chickadvisor last year and I loved them both! They are so so good. They really keep my lips hydrated and they smell so good.

Product: Softlips Cube in Fresh Mint (full size, 6.5 g)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: Also from Chickadvisor, this was the first Softlips lip balm I finished from the four that I received. I am a big mint lip balm fan and this one had a sweet side that I really liked!

Product: Lasting Smiles Organic Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme (full size, 4.25 g)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I received this in a swap and fell in love with it! Sadly, I have no idea where to get another one! (If anyone knows, please let me know! Preferably in Canada.) It’s not too minty as the cream really balances it out. I was so sad when I ran out! I would love to get another one of these again.

Lip Balm Throwaways

Product: Softlips Cube in Berry Bliss (full size, 6.5 g)
Rating (out of 5): 3
Repurchase?: No
Thoughts: The fourth from my Chickadvisor. I’m giving it a 3 because I love the formulation but I am no longer a berry lip balm girl so I wasn’t a big fan of the scent and flavour… which is funny to me because I used to love berry lip balms when I was a kid! Tastes really do change as you get older!

Skincare Empties

Product: Amie Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Daily Wash (full size, 150 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I received this from Amie to review a long time ago and it’s lasted me quite awhile! I kept it in the shower and used it whenever I felt like exfoliating. Plus it smelled great for the mornings. Loved this so much! I would definitely repurchase this again next time I’m looking for a daily exfoliator. You can read my review on this product  here. 🙂

Product: Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser (deluxe size, 30 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 3
Repurchase?: Maybe
Thoughts: This was a nice cleanser and it was definitely gentle. But nothing really stood out for me. It was a pretty average face cleanser.

january empties

Product: Skin Laundry Restoring Night Serum (full size, 30 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I got this from a FabFitFun box last year and I love it! It’s a great serum to use in your night time routine. Loved the smell and it made my skin feel great. I would definitely get this one again!

Product: Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream (deluxe size, 3 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This was okay. I didn’t really notice a huge difference with my undereye when I started using it other than it did depuff it a bit in the morning. It seemed temporary, though. Still, I didn’t mind this eye cream. I’d use it again.

Product: pur~lisse Blue Lotuse 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum (deluxe size, 7 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: Same as the Clinique Pep-Start above, this eye serum was okay but not amazing. I would still use it again… which I will have to anyways since I still have a couple of these kicking around! I won’t get rid of them, though…. I will use them.

Product: Ole Henriksen Truth Facial Water (full size, 118 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This is the second bottle I’ve used up. I love it that much! It did disappear for a time so I was glad to see it back on the store shelves eventually. This is a really nice toner. I like to put it on a cotton pad and apply it to my face in the mornings. I find it super refreshing and hydrating. I’d use it again!

january empties

Body Care Empties

Product: Le Petit Marseillais Extra Gentle Shower Creme in Orange Blossom (full size, 400 m4)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I received this from Chickadvisor Premium last year and found that it’s a pretty good cleanser! I wasn’t quite sure about the scent at first but it grew on me. It was a nice fresh scent first thing in the morning! I’m definitely open to getting this again but maybe in a different scent.

Product: Jergens Moisturizer for Wet Skin in Coconut (deluxe size, 60 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This lotion is so great! You use it right after you shower but before you dry your skin. The coconut scent is not too strong but smells great! And my skin definitely feels moisturized after using this. Loved it so much! I already have this full sized in the green tea scent (that’s what I tried first and loved) but I would like to get the coconut one next time.

Body Care Throwaways

Product: The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter (full size, 200 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This is a great body butter! The only reason I’m throwing it away now is that it’s older and it doesn’t quite smell right anymore. I would get this again, though!

Hair Care Empties

A couple of empties and I finally got through some foils, too!

Product: tresemme Moisture Rich Shampoo and Conditioner (deluxe size, 85 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 3
Repurchase?: Maybe
Thoughts: I bought these for my trip to Dallas and Las Vegas back in November. It’s not bad but it’s also not super impressive either. It’s good as a quick travel size buy but I’m not sure if I’d use it as my regular shampoo and conditioner.

Product: Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Shampoo and Conditioner  (foil sample, 10 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I really like this shampoo and conditioner… I had a full sized version of these two at some point in time! I love the smell and it made my hair so soft. I’d get this in full size again one day.

Product: Garnier Fructis Grow Strong Shampoo and Conditioner (foil sample, 10 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I dunno. I am just a big fan of these Garnier Fructis hair care products! I liked this one, as well!

Product: Garnier Whole Blends Moroccan Argan and Cammelia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner (foil sample,  10 ml)
Rating (out of 5): 3
Repurchase?: Maybe
Thoughts: I wasn’t sure if I really liked this one and the foil samples weren’t enough for me to make that decision so I’m just gonna give this one a middle of the road review for now.

That’s All Folks!

For January (and December) anyways. I still have some empties in the box where I keep this glorified garbage so check back early next month for my February empties! <3

How did you do with empties in January? 🙂

Unboxing + Review: FabFitFun Spring 2017

fabfitfun spring 2017

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day weekend! And a Happy 4th of July to our American Friends too!

This is a bit late. My goal was to get this posted before I went on vacation! But it was so busy leading up to vacation that I just didn’t get a chance to finish. So here it is! My apologies. I’m home now from a week away camping in the BC Kootenay’s and back to blogging! And work, let’s not forget that. 😉

Honestly, FabFitFun is still one of my favourite subscriptions. It only comes four times a year, as the seasons change, but for the most part, I really like what I have received in the past. The FabFitFun Spring box was no different!

FabFitFun is a seasonal lifestyle subscription box that contains everything from beauty to fitness items. If you would like to try this subscription, please use my link here.

fabfitfun spring 2017

First off, I am loving how each box comes in a design now. Now pretty is the one for Spring? There are also a number of variations when it comes to the box design. Second, I love that the box comes with a magazine. It’s everything from a product card and more!

fabfitfun spring 2017

fabfitfun spring 2017

For spring, FabFitFun introduced a new feature called “Choice”. With Choice, all members are given the chance to choose a few items in theri ox based on their personal preference. They provide you with a bit of a teaser as to what the items might be so that you can choose one OR choose them all! Additional Choice items can be added to your box for $10 each, while supplies last.

For this box, the Choice was between two jewelry items. They gave us vague hints. Being the jewelry lover I am, I chose both. You don’t actually get to see what they look like before you select them but I will reveal and cover both pieces below. 😉

Anyways, let’s get to it. Here is what I received for Spring. 🙂

fabfitfun spring 2017 briogeo

First up is the hair care product I received. The Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray ($20.00 USD) is said to add softness and shien to your hair. What I really like is that it also helps with frizz and, as an additional bonus, shields your hair from heat and UV rays. Perfect for summer and tropical holidays! This is a full sized bottle which is one of the perks of FFF – full sized products! Plus, I really like the scent. This was a win for me.

fabfitfun spring 2017 dr. brandt

Next, I also received a couple of skin care products. The first one is the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator ($79.00 USD). I’m sure I have tried a deluxe size of this before but it was from ipsy and came in a black tube. If I remember correctly, I really liked it. It is a lightweight cream and you don’t need to use much to use it effectively to exfoliate your skin. It is pretty gentle and is said to fade dark spots and minimize lines and wrinkles. I haven’t opened this yet because I have other exfoliators on the go… I will use this once I finish those.

fabfitfun spring 2017 karuna

I also received the Karuna Hydrating+ Face Mask ($28.00 USD, four masks). My skin is normal right now so I will have to save this for another time. It is said to help dry, dehydrated skin. It is a deep-conditioning sheet mask made of 100% natural wood-pulp fiber. This would have been great to have during the winter! Either way, I love sheet masks and always keep them on hand.

fabfitfun spring 2017 realher

Moving on to makeup, I received the RealHer Lip Kit in Neutral Pink ($48.00 USD). Boy, was I ever glad to see this set! The deep red set is too red for my liking and the deep nude set likely would have been too nude or brown for me. At least the pink works for me! This set includes a lipstick, lip gloss and a lip pencil. It’s made from natural ingredients which is a plus! I plan on writing a review just on this set so I won’t say too much yet but I will say that I do like it!

fabfitfun spring 2017 deborah lippmann

fabfitfun spring 2017 deborah lippmann

Next up is nails. I got the Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Set in Shape of My Heart (light pink) and Like a Virgin (white) ($19.00 USD). I have a few Deborah Lippmann polishes and I really like the formulation. They don’t chip right away and have been long lasting for me… I hope these are the same! These pastel shades are great for summer. I also like that these are minis as I have never in my life EVEr finished a bottle of nail polish! Minis are totally fine by me!

fabfitfun spring 2017 gypsy 05

fabfitfun spring 2017 gypsy 05

I received two lifestyle items in my Spring box. The first one is the Gypsy 05 Roundie in the yellow pattern ($50.00 USD). Round blankets seem to be very popular right now so FFF sure got it right by including this in the box! Made of 100% cotton, this roundie blanket is perfect for picnics or trips to the beach. It measures 62.5″ in diameter and has a tassel trim all around the edge. It comes in many designs. This will come in very useful this summer!

fabfitfun spring 2017 milly

Next is a zip pouch from Milly with the saying “Haute Mess” ($45.00 USD) on it! And you know, some days I just am! A haute mess that is. 😉 The huge plus that differentiates this bag from my other ones is that it’s water resistant. It’s a good sized bag too! You can use it too keep wet swimwear in it or to tote your liquids around during your travels which is what I did during the last week on my holidays. It sure came in handy! It also has a wrist loop so you don’t lose it. Overall, this is such a great bag!

fabfitfun spring 2017 emerald duv

fabfitfun spring 2017 luv aj

The final item that was in the Spring box was the Choice item – a jewelry piece. Or in my case, two jewelry pieces! For my Choice pick, I chose the Emerald Duv “Joshua Tree” Cage Bracelet ($80.00 USD) at first but then decided I wanted both so I also received the Luv AJ Diamond Kite Crawler Earring Set ($85.00 USD) for an extra $10.00 USD. I’m glad I got both because I would have kicked myself if I just received one. The cage bracelet is beautiful! It is a larger cuff but is still delicate looking. It is comfortable and light to wear. And the earrings are a lovely rose gold! I have always wanted crawler earrings so this is a great set to start with. Overall, I’m very happy with both jewelry items I received!

So that’s it! That’s all that came in the Spring box. The total value of my Spring FabFitFun box was $454.00 USD. That is insane. I will certainly be using everything I received so for me it was worth it.

What was your fave item from the Spring FabFitFun box? 🙂

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Beauty Empties 3

Beauty Empties - what I loved and what I didn't

My quest to use up products continues! Since empties posts are pretty popular with my readers, today I bring you with 15 empties that I used up in the last couple of months. It is a whole mish mash of hair care, body care and makeup. Since there’s a ton to go through, let us begin!

beauty empties

The Empties

Product: Dove Nutritive solutions Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I do adore Dove products and that includes their shampoo and conditioners. If I can recall correctly, I received the full-size of both the Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner from ChickAdvisor’s Product Review Club sometime last year. I only have the conditioner pictured here because I am pretty sure I threw away the empty shampoo bottle a long time ago (whoops!). Then I bought the smaller travel sizes for when I went to Hawaii in November. I found that the Daily Moisture line was great for every day use. I tend to have drier ends and this line helped a lot. My hair felt clean with no residue using these products and it made my hair smell great! I wouldn’t hesitate to use these products again in the future.

Product: eva nyc Therapy Session Hair Mask
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Already have… but may not repurchase after. Depends.
Thoughts: I received this from an ipsy glam bag a long, long time ago. It took me this long to finish it because I was saving it and I was afraid of running out! Until I decided to use it up before it went bad. I really liked this hair mask. It smelled really good an d does a great job of moisturizing my hair. I found a large tub of this at Winners so I have repurchased it… however, I have since found other hair masks that I like more right now so I haven’t used it in awhile. Still a pretty great hair mask, nonetheless. But yes, if you are interested in more eva nyc products, check out your local Winners and Marshalls. It seems to be the only place I can find it around Edmonton.

Product: The Body Shop Shea Body Butter
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I used to have a love-hate relationship with The Body Shop Body Butters. For the longest time, they were just too thick for me! However, this winter has been really, really dry so I needed something that was a bit more intense than my usual body lotion. Enter this Shea Body Butter. I received this deluxe travel sized tub from my Body Shop advent calendar a couple years back and found it in my stash and it wasn’t spoiled yet. I tried it and I was hooked! It’s super moisturizing which is exactly what my skin needs right now. The shea one smells really nice, as well… it’s not overpowering at all. I was really happy with this and now I’m using their Coconut Body Butter. 🙂

Product: Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
Rating (out of 5):
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: Quite honestly, I love raspberry anything. I received this three pack of classic Philosophy body washes about a year go and I am working my way through them. I had already finished one earlier this year in the scent Melon Daquiri – where the bottle ended up is beyond me… I probably threw it away – and just finished this Raspberry Sorbet one. While this is marketed as a “3-in-1” product, I only used this as a shower gel and I did very much like it. It smells so great, lathers really well and doesn’t completely dry my skin when I use it. The 180 ml bottle lasted me about a month to a month and a half. I’m sure they also sell this scent in the really large bottles that you can find at Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora. In the end, this one was a win.

beauty empties

Product: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes, yes, a hundred times yes!
Thoughts: My favourite facial wipes ever. I honestly don’t know how many of these I have finished up already. This was a travel sized pack that I brought with me to Hawaii. It’s gentle on my skin and super effective in wiping off my makeup. Great for lazy days, before a workout or as a first step to my nighttime routine. This is something I always keep on hand!

Product: Delon+ Premium Cosmetic Cotton Rounds (100 count)
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I am not sure how many 100 count packages I have used up of this product. I think this was my seventh one.. You can get these at Costco for about $12 for I believe it’s eight packages of 100 and I have one package left and it’s been over a year since I bought it. Excellent for pretty much anything you need a cotton round for – removing eye makeup, applying toner, taking off nail polish – you name it! It’s lint free and stays in tact when you use it. This is a pretty standard product that I keep on my vanity table.

Product: Chantecaille Flower Infused Cleansing Milk
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I received this sample awhile ago and just decided to use it not too long ago. This little 8 ml sample lasted me a couple of weeks. I had not tried a cleansing milk before so it took some getting used to as it does not foam as much as some of my other cleansers… but at the end of the day, my face felt clean and it didn’t dry out my skin so I’m happy with it. I ended up loving this! Too bad it’s so expensive to purchase. Maybe I will get it again one day if I decide to treat myself!

Product: Shiseido The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam
Rating (out of 5): 2
Repurchase?: No
Thoughts: This product may be discontinued. I tried to look for it on the Shiseido site but couldn’t find it. I’m not sure if this product smelled the way it did because it was old or if it was just the way it was but I did not like it. I did at first but the smell turned me off of it. It does do a good job of cleansing but I couldn’t get over the smell so I stopped using it. A big nope for me.

beauty empties

Product: Clarins Mission Perfection Serum
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I am obsessed with this stuff! So I’m super happy that my hubby bought me a new one for Christmas. 😉 This is meant to correct dark spots and even out skin tone… and it does a pretty good job of that! I had some dark spots from past blemishes on my cheek and it definitely lightened up my skin and made it brighter. This lasted a good part of the year when I used it once a day in the morning. Smells great and easy to apply on your skin. I really loved it.

Product: Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: This was a pretty small sample. 5 ml lasted me about a week… maybe a week and a half. It’s a very nice gentle serum that made my skin feel much more hydrated and soft. It has a light, soft scent that I really liked. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this one again. I’m happy it’s available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall and it often goes on sale which makes it that much more affordable. That is a huge plus for me!

Product: Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Moisturizer
Rating (out of 5): 4
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: Another small sample… this time 7 ml. But I was able to use it for a couple of weeks so that was nice. This was a nice moisturizer that hydrated my skin. This one also has a nice scent to it. This was the first I have tried of Philosophy’s skincare and it was a positive experience. The only thing to caution with this product is that it contains AHA so always use it with sunscreen. I didn’t really have any issues while I was using it because it was the dead of winter and it was dark when I went to work and then dark when I went home! But sunscreen is something to keep in mind when you know you will be out in the sun!

Product: Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Serum
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: I was so impressed with this serum! It made my skin so soft and smooth! And I was very surprised as to how long this 15 ml bottle lasted me.  A couple of months, I think? That’s awesome! It smells nice and since it seems to work with my skin, I will definitely add this to my wish list.

beauty empties

Product: Beauty Blender
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes – Holy Grail Product!
Thoughts: I adore my Beauty Blender. You can see my review of it, along with some tips and tricks as to how to use it, here. It just makes applying concealer and foundation so much easier for me! I prefer this to any brush, to be honest. Once you get the hang of it (always make sure you use it with water!), it’s so hard to turn back. But like most things in life, Beauty Blenders do not last forever… I honestly think I’ve had this one for too long. I do already have a new one so it has been replaced. This is truly a favourite of mine!

Product: L’Oreal Brow Plumper by Brow Stylist in Transparent
Rating (out of 5): 5
Repurchase?: Yes
Thoughts: You can definitely tell that this product was well loved as there are no markings left on the tube because it all rubbed off! I had to Google what it was called because I couldn’t remember. This is a fibre infused brow gel and since it was in the shade transparent, I used it to set my brows after using a brow pencil. I really like this product and thought that it worked really well for me. It comes in a light/medium or medium/dark shades too…. something I am willing to try for sure!

beauty empties

That’s it Folks!

That’s it for now. Since taking these pictures a couple of weeks ago, I have since collected more empties. Look for another post very soon! For now, I am just happy that I can finally throw away some of my garbage. 😉

Got any empties? What was your fave empty? 🙂

Unboxing + Review: Miss Blanco Joyful Box December 2016 – Celebration

miss blanco joyful box december 2016

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great New Years! I had a wonderful holiday season, spending Christmas and New Years with family and friends.

Another year of blog posts gone by! Here’s to another year more. I plan on some new blog series, more unboxings and more actual product reviews this year! I hope you stay and enjoy the ride with me. 🙂

The very first unboxing for 2017 is the December Miss Blanco Joyful Box. I received this just before Christmas (literally – it arrived on December 23rd!) so I am just getting to my unboxing now. I was so happy to see it come just in time for Christmas! And the theme for December is Celebration, which is the perfect theme for the season.

For those of you who ware not familiar with this subscription: Miss Blanco Joyful Box is a lifestyle box sent straight to you each month containing five items that are a mix of deluxe or full sized beauty times,  hand-curated items and lifestyle items.  It is priced at $38.00 CAD (or $28 USD) monthly.

Miss Blanco Joyful Box does offer a VIP member option in addition to the standard subscription. This is just an option – you are not required to opt into this – but for $30.00 CAD per year, you can opt into this program. Please note that you must already be a subscriber and that the cost is on top of your monthly subscription cost. BUT you get a full year of extra perks and surprises for $2.50 CAD per month.  If you do decide to join, please put my name in the field where it asks who referred you – Olivia from starpixel. I would very much appreciate it! 🙂

Miss Blanco Joyful Box December 2016

There is a lot to cover for the month of December so we should get started. December’s box contains two artisan items that are hand made, two beauty items and one lifestyle item for regular members or two lifestyle items for VIPs.

The first item isn’t really an item in the box but I would like to take notice of it anyways! Love this magnetic Miss Blanco Joyful Box 2017 calendar that came in my box! I will definitely be putting this up somewhere at home or at work. I’m not sure where yet. This is super practical and perfect to kick off a new year!

Miss Blanco Joyful Box December 2016

The first of two artisan items I receved is a Bath Bomb in the scent Hot Chocolate from Sunbasilgarden Soaps ($7.50 CAD, one full sized bath bomb). If you are a chocolate or a vanilla lover like I am, you will think that this smells delicious! I love hot cocoa during the colder months so this was perfect for me! There were three other scents availalbe – Mistletoe, Sugar Cookie and a Minty Peppermint one – but I’m so glad I received this one because it smells delish! I love bath bombs but I will admit, I don’t take baths as often as I probably should. I really should make a better effort because bath bombs are the perfect thing for a night in if you just want to relax!

The other artisan item was this gorgeous heart ornament from Crate Charms ($10.00 CAD). This piece features a heart with scalloped edges. This can easily turn into a lovely ornament that you can put on your Christmas tree… or wherever else you may want to hang it. Perhaps from your rear view mirror in your car or even on your purse.

Miss Blanco Joyful Box December 2016

Moving on to the beauty items! This first item – or two items – are not a stranger to me. This is kind of a 2-for-1 deal because you are getting two nail polishes instead of just one! I received two Essie nail polishes in the shades Russian Roulette (a classic red orange shade) and Getting Groovy (from Essie’s Winter 2016 line, a lovely palladium gold) ($17.00 CAD). Of the two, I think I prefer the gold shade, because honestly, you can’t go wrong with a bit of sparkle during the holiday season! Wear one shade alone or wear them both! I myself see myself wearing the red polish as is with the gold being on an accent nail.

This other beauty offering was a shampoo and conditioner deluxe sized duo from the brand Bain de Terre  featuring their Lavender Color Enhancing Shampoo and Keratin Phyto-Protein Strengthening Conditioner ($8.00 CAD). I have never heard of this brand before but it smells really good so I am willing to try it. From what I can tell, though, the shampoo and conditioner are from different product collections. The Lavender Color Enhancing Collection is brand new and the shampoo looks good seeing as it’s a paraben free product. The Keratin Phyto-Protein Collection is both sulfate and paraben free. I do colour my hair so the shampoo will be nice to try next time I get my hair done. I love strengthening products so the conditioner will come in handy, too.

Last up are the lifestyle items. Depending on whether or not you are a VIP member, you may have received one or two lifestyle items.

All members received a Gold Gladiator Hair Band ($31.00 CAD). Wow, this is the high value item in this box! Not sure if that is the going rate for these types of hair bands! This is a beaitiful gold headband that can easily be incorporated into an evening look or as a fun piece with a cute top and jeans for casual days. It is definitely a pop of gold, regardless of what you are wearing! Seems pretty versitile to me. I personally don’t wear hair bands myself other than the headbands I use when I’m putting on makeup to keep my hair out of my eyes or when I’m working out or when I just need something to keep my hair in check when I’m having a lazy day at home or while camping. My head bands are definitely not as glam as this one. Glad I can add something like this to my  accessories collection!

If you are a VIP member, you also received an extra item – a Gold Scarf ($24.99 CAD). I will be honest, this isn’t really my style but it’s still a beautiful scarf! And it coordinates great with the gold headband! I have not see anything like it so it’s very unique in style and super light to go with almost any ensemble.

Miss Blanco Joyful Box December 2016

So that’s all for December! The total value of the box is $73.50 CAD for regular members and $98.49 CAD for VIP members. That’s pretty good value for a lifestyle box! More than double what I paid for.

The December box had a nice variety of items but I personally preferred my October and November boxes. That being said, I will still use most of the items from December.

What are your thoughts on the December Miss Blanco Joyful Box?

Until next time! Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Unboxing: Unilever Trends Box from Topbox (Limited Edition)

topbox unilever trends box

Ugh. I don’t usually get sick often but the bug that’s been going around at work has hit me hard. So my apologies for the delay on this post! I meant to post this sometime last week.

The Unilever Trends Box was included for free with my September Topbox. What a surprise that was! I definitely wasn’t expecting that. 🙂

Other subscribers received the Unilever Classics Box. Both were available for purchase from Topbox for $10 CAD but they are both sold out now which is a shame because it’s such a great deal!

A ton of great stuff from brands under the Unilever umbrella – both old and new to me – were included.  It’s a good mix of stuff so let’s get started!

Dove Dry Oil Moisturizing Body Wash (53 ml)
I have tried other Dove body washes but not this one in particular.  It is said to be “Infused with precious Moroccan Argan Oil beads” which intrigues me. I don’t often use exfoliating body washes so I look forward to trying this one out!

Dove Soothing Camomile Dry Spray Antiperspirant (107 g)
Now here’s something that I’ve heard good things about but haven’t had a chance to try yet. I have never tried a spray antiperspirant before so I’m glad I received this! This is definitely a new-to-me product.

Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo (30 ml), Conditioner (30 ml) and Serum (9 ml)
A sample of an entire hair product range! That’s pretty awesome. This is for damaged and over-processed hair. My hair isn’t damaged, per se, but I often use heat styling tools so it’s probably damaged enough. I will have to give this a try. Maybe I will take these on my upcoming vacation. That sounds like a good plan to me. 😉

Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes (7 count)
I love, love, love Simple cleansing wipes! I can’t even count how many of these I’ve used up already. Super glad to have a nice travel pack for vacation, though. 🙂

TRESemme Perfectly (un)Done Waves Sea Foam (45 ml)
I usually feel very indifferent about sprays that claim to give you waves because I still haven’t found one that works for me. Something to try, I guess.

TRESemme Perfectly (un)Done Waves Sea Salt Spray (50 ml)
Same comment as above. Why are there two similar products in this box? Not sure. I guess I could try this also.

Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy Hands Stronger Nails Lotion (100 ml)
Perfect! As the weather gets colder, my hands get drier so this came at a perfect time! I will be using this for sure.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter (17 g)
Another perfect product for me! I have always loved Vaseline’s Lip Therapy but haven’t tried it yet in this new packaging. Cocoa Butter is my fave one so I will also be using this for sure. 🙂

So there you go – the 10 products included in the Unilver Trends Box. Overall, it’s pretty great! Other than maybe the TRESemme products, I will be using it all at some point in time. Super glad that I also received a few things I can use right away when I go on holidays.

Thank you Topbox for this amazing bonus with my September Topbox!

Until next time, friends!
