I cannot believe that we are well into February already! A lot happened in January so that disappeared in a blink of the eye! January definitely flew by in a flash.
I still have some catch up to do when it comes to writing about my subscription boxes. I really wanted to write about this one sooner because it’s one of my fave subs but because January was too eventful (both good and bad) and my Macbook Pro died on me (I’m currently using the hubby’s ‘on loan’ or my desktop which isn’t quite set up for image editing as well as my Macbook was until I get a new laptop!), it had to wait. But better late than never, right?
For those of you who ware not familiar with this subscription: Miss Blanco Joyful Box is a lifestyle box which contains five items that are a mix of deluxe or full sized beauty times, hand-curated artisan items and lifestyle items. It is priced at $38.00 CAD (or $28 USD) per month and comes 12 times a year.
Miss Blanco Joyful Box does offer a VIP member option in addition to the standard subscription. This is just an option – you are not required to opt into this – but for $30.00 CAD per year, you can opt into this program. Please note that you must already be a subscriber and that the cost is on top of your monthly subscription cost. BUT you get a full year of extra perks and surprises for $2.50 CAD per month. If you do decide to join, please put my name in the field where it asks who referred you – Olivia from starpixel. I would very much appreciate it! ?
Now let’s get into the good stuff! January’s theme is Femininity and everything in this box screams it. Can I also say that I love the teal box that it came in? Teal is one of my fave colours. 😉
January’s box came with four beauty items, one artisan item and two lifestyle items… that’s more than the usual five items so you’re already ahead with this one! Because I am a VIP member, I also received a bonus item AND because I participated in the Ambassador Contest, I was gifted some extra goodies as a generous thank you! So there is definitely a lot to cover here, so let’s get started!
Let’s start with beauty. The first item in the beauty category is really two items! I received two makeup brushes from Charmed Makeup ($36.00 CAD). I have not heard of this brand before so this is a new one for me. The first brush is their Small All-Over Brush #58 from their Organic Collection. It is said to work with both creams and powders. The tapered head should make this a good under eye brush for concealer. They call in an “all-over” brush because you can use it your face or lips and even for applying eyeshadow. The other brush I received is their Contour Brush… though it is smaller than other contour brushes I own. This looks like it would make a great eyeshadow blending brush… and it’s so soft! Looking forward to trying both of these out.
The next beauty item I received was a Green Tea Makeup Remover ($14.99 CAD, 75 ml). On the product card, it says it’s a White Label Product for Miss Blanco. I have tried this and it does a good job of removing my makeup. The way I have been using it is by applying it onto a round cotton pad and then wiping off my makeup but you can also spray it on your face before wiping it off. Applying it on a cotton round is just my preferred method. It is also a no-rinse formula so that makes it super convenient! I don’t find that it leaves a residue and I really like the light scent that it has.
The final beauty item was the Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm in Coral Crave ($4.99 CAD). I have tried the regular Baby Lips lip balm before and I just wasn’t a fan. I will have to try out this medicated one, though. Maybe I will like it more because it is minty and and I am a big fan of mint lip balms! The coral colour is also very nice. Assuming this version of Baby Lips works for me, I can see putting this in my purse for every day wear whenever you need it. It is quite handy for the dry winter months!
Moving onto the artisan item, this month I received a digital download of this cute Deer Head Art Print ($6.66 CAD). I have been on a huge deer kick as of late – you will see more of that in my next favourites post – so I thought this was great! Love the colours, as well! It will definitely give a dull room a pop of colour!
I received two lifestyle items. The first one is this gorgeous pair of Lace Boot Cuffs ($14.99 CAD). I’ve been wearing boot cuffs a lot this winter but all of mine are of the knit variety so this is a nice change. I love the flower and pearl detailing. This will be perfect for spring!
The last item in the box was a Tassel Hair Accessory in dark royal blue ($7.00 CAD). I use hair ties a lot so this will come in very useful. The tassel adds a little something to your everyday ponytail and it also looks cute when you are wearing it on your wrist. Sometimes I also clip hair ties onto my purse so this one can also add a little decor to my bag!
That pretty much covers January’s box contents but because I am a VIP member, I received a bonus item. The bonus item I received is a Blush Pan in the shade Cheeky Luscious ($9.99 CAD). In the pan it looks super bright! Not really something I would choose for myself but perhaps I will give it a go. At 3.5 grams, it’s a good sized blush and it just comes as a pan so you can add it to your magnetic palettes.
The final value of my January box was $94.62 CAD. That’s a pretty good haul! Other than the blush, everything will be put to good use! But that is not all!
There’s still more to cover because I participated in the Ambassador Contest. When I saw my thank you goodies, I felt so, so spoiled! First, I received this lovely thank you card. That was so sweet of Yoanella! These extra goodies made me feel like I was doing a bonus unboxing because I received five additional items! Let’s take a peek.
I received two items from elf cosmetics which is great because I have always wanted to try more from this brand. The first one is elf’s Shimmering Facial Whip in Pink Lemonade ($1.00 USD, 9 ml). This is a liquid highlighter that you can use, not only on your cheeks, but on your eyes or lips, as well. I love how this product is multi-purpose! I haven’t tried many liquid highlighters so I’m glad I got this. The other elf product I received was a 24 pack of elf’s Nail Polish Remover Pads (price unknown, 24 count). I am about to run out of the ones that I have so this was perfect timing! This has a citrus scent and I love nail polish remover pads cause they are super easy to use and having them in this little container will make it so handy and convenient. Great for travel, too! I hope they work well.
Another item I received was a sample of the Darphin Paris Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum ($17.50 CAD, 5 ml). I don’t get very much redness in my face.. just a little bit around my nose. Great high value sample, though!
I’m super happy about the next three because I have always wanted to try this brand out but haven’t had a chance to yet. I have heard many good things about Laneige so I was so happy to receive these!
The first item is the Laneige Multi Cleanser Multi-Action Makeup Remover and Exfoliator ($4.83 CAD, 1 oz). I haven’t tried it yet because I have a couple of open cleansers right now but I smelled it and it smells so nice! Light and not overpowering. Reviews online show this as a cleanser that cleanses all your makeup easily and makes your skin softer and brighter. I cannot wait to try it!
I also received the Laneige Good Night Kit ($8.00 CAD) that contains two deluxe samples: the Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask (20 ml) and the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (15 ml). I’ve gotta say, the Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask smells just like Strawberry Pocky! No lie! I love that! This product says that it supports firmness so that’s prefect for me right now as I am looking for products to help with that. I’m excited to try the Water Sleeping Mask, too. I have never tried a sleeping mask before so this will be the first. Great for hydration so I’m all over it! My skin isn’t overly dry this winter but I like to keep my skin hydrated because it looks healthier. So excited to try these, as well!
And that, my friends, is it for January! I hope you had fun reading this as much as I did writing it! It was definitely much longer than my usual unboxings but there were just so many things to go through. I couldn’t help it!
I hope you all had a great weekend and a fab week to come!
