Unboxing + Review: FabFitFun Spring 2017

fabfitfun spring 2017

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day weekend! And a Happy 4th of July to our American Friends too!

This is a bit late. My goal was to get this posted before I went on vacation! But it was so busy leading up to vacation that I just didn’t get a chance to finish. So here it is! My apologies. I’m home now from a week away camping in the BC Kootenay’s and back to blogging! And work, let’s not forget that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Honestly, FabFitFun is still one of my favourite subscriptions. It only comes four times a year, as the seasons change, but for the most part, I really like what I have received in the past. The FabFitFun Spring box was no different!

FabFitFun is a seasonal lifestyle subscription box that contains everything from beauty to fitness items. If you would like to try this subscription, please use my link here.

fabfitfun spring 2017

First off, I am loving how each box comes in a design now. Now pretty is the one for Spring? There are also a number of variations when it comes to the box design. Second, I love that the box comes with a magazine. It’s everything from a product card and more!

fabfitfun spring 2017

fabfitfun spring 2017

For spring, FabFitFun introduced a new feature called “Choice”. With Choice, all members are given the chance to choose a few items in theri ox based on their personal preference. They provide you with a bit of a teaser as to what the items might be so that you can choose one OR choose them all! Additional Choice items can be added to your box for $10 each, while supplies last.

For this box, the Choice was between two jewelry items. They gave us vague hints. Being the jewelry lover I am, I chose both. You don’t actually get to see what they look like before you select them but I will reveal and cover both pieces below. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyways, let’s get to it. Here is what I received for Spring. ๐Ÿ™‚

fabfitfun spring 2017 briogeo

First up is the hair care product I received. The Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray ($20.00 USD) is said to add softness and shien to your hair. What I really like is that it also helps with frizz and, as an additional bonus, shields your hair from heat and UV rays. Perfect for summer and tropical holidays! This is a full sized bottle which is one of the perks of FFF – full sized products! Plus, I really like the scent. This was a win for me.

fabfitfun spring 2017 dr. brandt

Next, I also received a couple of skin care products. The first one is the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator ($79.00 USD). I’m sure I have tried a deluxe size of this before but it was from ipsy and came in a black tube. If I remember correctly, I really liked it. It is a lightweight cream and you don’t need to use much to use it effectively to exfoliate your skin. It is pretty gentle and is said to fade dark spots and minimize lines and wrinkles. I haven’t opened this yet because I have other exfoliators on the go… I will use this once I finish those.

fabfitfun spring 2017 karuna

I also received the Karuna Hydrating+ Face Mask ($28.00 USD, four masks). My skin is normal right now so I will have to save this for another time. It is said to help dry, dehydrated skin. It is a deep-conditioning sheet mask made of 100% natural wood-pulp fiber. This would have been great to have during the winter! Either way, I love sheet masks and always keep them on hand.

fabfitfun spring 2017 realher

Moving on to makeup, I received the RealHer Lip Kit in Neutral Pink ($48.00 USD). Boy, was I ever glad to see this set! The deep red set is too red for my liking and the deep nude set likely would have been too nude or brown for me. At least the pink works for me! This set includes a lipstick, lip gloss and a lip pencil. It’s made from natural ingredients which is a plus! I plan on writing a review just on this set so I won’t say too much yet but I will say that I do like it!

fabfitfun spring 2017 deborah lippmann

fabfitfun spring 2017 deborah lippmann

Next up is nails. I got the Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Set in Shape of My Heart (light pink) and Like a Virgin (white) ($19.00 USD). I have a few Deborah Lippmann polishes and I really like the formulation. They don’t chip right away and have been long lasting for me… I hope these are the same! These pastel shades are great for summer. I also like that these are minis as I have never in my life EVEr finished a bottle of nail polish! Minis are totally fine by me!

fabfitfun spring 2017 gypsy 05

fabfitfun spring 2017 gypsy 05

I received two lifestyle items in my Spring box. The first one is the Gypsy 05 Roundie in the yellow pattern ($50.00 USD). Round blankets seem to be very popular right now so FFF sure got it right by including this in the box! Made of 100% cotton, this roundie blanket is perfect for picnics or trips to the beach. It measures 62.5″ in diameter and has a tassel trim all around the edge. It comes in many designs. This will come in very useful this summer!

fabfitfun spring 2017 milly

Next is a zip pouch from Milly with the saying “Haute Mess” ($45.00 USD) on it! And you know, some days I just am! A haute mess that is. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The huge plus that differentiates this bag from my other ones is that it’s water resistant. It’s a good sized bag too! You can use it too keep wet swimwear in it or to tote your liquids around during your travels which is what I did during the last week on my holidays. It sure came in handy! It also has a wrist loop so you don’t lose it. Overall, this is such a great bag!

fabfitfun spring 2017 emerald duv

fabfitfun spring 2017 luv aj

The final item that was in the Spring box was the Choice item – a jewelry piece. Or in my case, two jewelry pieces! For my Choice pick, I chose the Emerald Duv “Joshua Tree” Cage Bracelet ($80.00 USD) at first but then decided I wanted both so I also received the Luv AJ Diamond Kite Crawler Earring Set ($85.00 USD) for an extra $10.00 USD. I’m glad I got both because I would have kicked myself if I just received one. The cage bracelet is beautiful! It is a larger cuff but is still delicate looking. It is comfortable and light to wear. And the earrings are a lovely rose gold! I have always wanted crawler earrings so this is a great set to start with. Overall, I’m very happy with both jewelry items I received!

So that’s it! That’s all that came in the Spring box. The total value of my Spring FabFitFun box was $454.00 USD. That is insane. I will certainly be using everything I received so for me it was worth it.

What was your fave item from the Spring FabFitFun box? ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Unboxing + Review: Rexall Topbox December 2016

topbox december 2016

The month of December was a bit puzzling when it came to Topbox – I had requested a Regular Topbox but I received a Rexall Topbox instead! That was very unexpected but a fun surprise nonetheless!

As you can see, the products come in a nifty Rexall tube. And of course, the products featured in this box are from brands that are sold at Rexall. It only makes sense!

For those of you who are not familiar with Topbox, it is a Canadian beauty box subscription. Topbox sends subscribers a monthly survey that also gives you a choice between a Regular Topbox that contains a surprise mix of four deluxe sized samples or full sized products or you can “wish” for a Prive box for the next month. And sometimes – like this month – Topbox collaborates with stores like Rexall to provide a curated box to some subscribers. Prive boxes typically contain products from one brand and can include one or more items. Always read the Prive box descriptions when you are filling out your wish list! Regardless whether you wish for a Prive box or stick a Regular one, it costs $12 + taxes and shipping is free. If you are interested in subscribing, I would appreciate it if you use my link here.

Now that the formalities are out of the way, let’s take a look at what I received in my Rexall Topbox! Scroll down to see pictures of each product.

  • Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk ($3.10 CAD, 30 g) – I don’t often use dry shampoo but it doesn’t hurt to keep some on hand, just in case! I tend to use dry shampoos more in the summer when I am camping. This one from Klorane worked well when I tried it and I do like the smell. I really like how this is available at the drugstore and is very cost effective (a full sized dry shampoo will set you back $15.50 CAD) compared to similar products.
  • NeoStrata All-in-One Cleansing Milk ($2.75 CAD, 25 ml) – This product is unique. I have never seen a no-rinse cleansing milk before! (Am I just sheltered?) You just put this on a cotton pad and then wipe your makeup off with it. Easy! I will be giving this a try. I have never tried NeoStrata products before and this one has me intrigued!
  • La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Levres Barrier Repairing Balm ($8.99 CAD, 7.5 ml) – This one is a full sized product! That’s always a plus. ๐Ÿ™‚ This is coming at the right time for me, too. This looks to be a very moissturizing lip balm. This is perfect for me because it has been an extremely dry winter here in Alberta and my lips are a lot drier than usual. I haven’t tried this one yet but I will keep it on hand for when I finish one of the lip balms that are already in rotation.
  • Studio Makeup Soft Blend Eyeshadow in Jungle Green ($14.00 CAD, 2 g) – Lasts but not least, is a makeup item! I have heard good things about Studio Makeup eyeshadows but unfortunately this is not really my colour. Because of that (and because of my attempt at limiting the amount of makeup products that I have) I will be passing on this one and passing it on to someone who will appreciate it more!

So there you have it. My surprise Rexall Topbox was not too bad…. not great but not bad. The total value of my box came to $28.84 CAD. That is okay, I suppose, but I have seen higher value boxes in the past. Still,it was over the cost of the box itself and I will likely use three out of the four products that I received so that is still a plus.

Oh wait, that’s not all! I also received a couple of coupons that I can use at Rexall! They’re pretty good, if you ask me. They also included product information for NeoStrata and Klorane. The coupons I received are:

  • Save $10 when you spend over $50 on almost anything in-store. (Valid between December 10, 2016 to February 8, 2017)
  • One Free Kotex product (not to exceed $4.00)
  • $5 off your next La Roche-Posay purchase of $25 or more

Do you subscribe to Topbox? What did you think of December’s box?

Hope you all had a great weekend and an awesome week to come!

Haul: Sephora VIB Sale Fall 2016

sephora vib sale haul

I really wanted to get this post up as soon as possible, it time for the VIB sale that starts today!

It’s that time of year! It’s time for the Sephora VIB Sale! 20% off whatever your little heart desires at Sephora! They only have discounts twice a year (barring the Friends & Family discount that seems to have become more difficult to get this year) so it is not very often you can save at Sephora. The November sale is the perfect time to replenish your goods and buy Christmas presents. With that being said, I decided to show you my haul in case it gives you ideas on what you would like to get during this year’s VIB sale (the VIB Rouge sale was last weekend) or just general gifting ideas for this holiday season.

Due to the sheer amount of stuff I have to go through from sub boxes and the like (hence why my project pan and empties posts are so important to me), I tried very hard not to go overboard this year. Usually I shop in-store and online but this year, I limited myself to shopping in-store only.  I shopped the VIB Rouge sale with my equally (if not more) beauty-crazed friend and we had a blast wandering around the store, seeing what’s new and just having some much needed girl time and retail therapy.

Enough chatter! Let’s get to the haul! Some items, I purchased to replenish and replace an old one I already had. Some of these were on my Loves list as things I wanted to try. One of them… well, one of them was a spur of the moment splurge because my friend twisted my rubber arm (but it was totally worth it, you’ll see!). And I redeemed for one 100 point perk.

First thing’s first, let’s take a look at what was replenished. These are the items that I already use today and I either ran out of or are very close to running out of. Also, please forgive the fact that these items are not pictured with the rest of my haul above… they were already put in their designated spots and I had started to use them already! But I will bring them all together again to take this picture to add later on – time is of the essence here so I won’t let that get in the way from posting this tonight. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer in Medium: I needed a replacement for my Urban Decay concealer that I finished awhile ago. And while I do have the Tarte Shape Tape, I’m trying not to use it too often as it’s not available here in Canada. So this was my pick! I haven’t tried this Too Faced one before but so far I’m impressed! Excellent coverage and Medium is a good colour match for me. To be fair, I do have the Born This Way foundation and I love it.
  • Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist: I first received a deluxe sample of this in a swap and fell n love! I was being very stringent of my deluxe sample because I was afraid of running out. Problem solved.
  • NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz: Going on a hot vacation and I needed a light tinted moisturizer for those days when I don’t want to cake on a heavy foundation. I tried a foil sample of this and it was great and it’s my choice to bring on my holidays. This travel sized tube is perfect! i’m so glad that the travel size comes in my shade. ๐Ÿ™‚

sephora vib sale haul

Okay, those three were the big three. The important stuff I had to get. Next up are the products that represent a subset of my Loves list.

  • Buxom 6 Degrees Below Sexy Mini Full- On Lip Polish Collection: I saw Tati review this and knew I had to have it! Buxom is one of my favourite brands! Their lip products are amazing! I use them all the time. The lip polishes are somewhat sheer so I can use them daily, everywhere I go! They make your lips tingle, too. The shades included in this set are Dominique (glittering ice), Amy (golden nude), Celeste (prismatic soft peach), Clair (starry plum haze), Starr (brandy cordial), Jasmine (black cherry) . Such a great deal at $40 considering one full sized lip polish costs $24.00 CAD alone.
  • Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite Set: Eee! I was very excited for these! Mainly because 1) I love mini lipsticks and 2) there are two shades in this set that I have been waiting to try! This set comes with four miniature versions of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche lipsticks- Fig, Pepper, Honeycomb and Nori. While I can already tell that Honeycomb (a beige nude) is not my style and that Nori (a deep brown red) will only be used sometimes when I need more colour, I was stoked to see that Pepper (a dusty rose) and Fig (a nude rose) was included because they have been on my list for what seems like forever! And what better way to try the new formulation than with this amazing set? All of these shades are available in Bite’s permanent line so if you fall in love with them, you can get a full size. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Tatcha Kyoto Cleanse Set: I had received the Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil in a swap and loved it right away. I don’t use cleansing oils to wash my face every day so this 25 ml travel size is great for me. I’m sure it will still last me awhile! I thought this set, which includes the cleansing oil, was a great deal because it also allows you to try other Tatcha products.  This set also includes travel size of the Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (10 g) and Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream (2 ml).
  • drybar Merry Mini Must-Haves: I have always wanted to try drybar products. It’s been sitting in my Loves list – the Triple Sec 3-in-1 in particular! – and this travel sized set was the final push to finally try drybar out! So far I have only tried the Triple Sec and so far so good as a texturizer! And it smells amazing! This set also comes with the Detox Dry Shampoo and Detox Dry Conditioner.
  • Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Beauty on the Go: This set contains Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (75 ml) and Brazilian Kiss Cupuaรงu Lip Butter (6.2 g). The first time I saw this project was when I was in line at Sephora during a quick stop to get something I had run out of and while standing in line my hubby asked “What is bum bum cream?” At the time, I really had no idea… so I looked a little more into it and the more I looked, the more I was intrigued. It is said to “absorb quickly to keep skin looking and feeling tight, firm and smooth”. I’ve been using it all week and I’m quite happy with it. While I haven’t used it long enough to say anything about its firming properties, it seems to do everything else. Plus it smells amazing!I haven’t tried the lip butter yet. Overall, this was totally worth it!

sephora vib sale haul

Well, twist my rubber arm! The next one was the unplanned purchase. I was trying my hardest to not buy an eyeshadow palette but when I saw it in person, it was really hard to say no! This was my unexpected splurge.

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette By Mario: It really is such a beautiful palette! And the shadows are SO pigmented. I don’t often go for overly warm palettes but I just couldn’t help it. I have been using it almost every day for the last week and I love it! I will definitely be writing up a review on this one. Just a quick hint: this palette is sold out online but my store (along with many others) still have many of these in stock! So if you want one, check out your neighbourhood Sephora. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And last but not least, I redeemed 100 points for one thing. I got the last one at this store. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Sell Out: It has been a long time since I have seen a 100 point perk that I was actually interested in! But since I still haven’t tried these liquid lippies before, I thought this was perfect. I get to try something new plus I love smaller lippies because they are great to keep in your purse. Sell Out is a “matte soft pinky-brown” so I’m hoping this works out for me!

sephora vib sale haul

That’s it! I think I did well to keep my purchases down to only things I needed to replenish and to items that I knew that I would love. I definitely didn’t go overboard this time so that was a huge plus! I hope this post was useful or fun at the very least. I love seeing everyone else’s hauls and I love to share mine. ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you want me to review and feature on the blog in the near future? Let me know in the comments below! ๐Ÿ™‚

Unboxing: Unilever Trends Box from Topbox (Limited Edition)

topbox unilever trends box

Ugh. I don’t usually get sick often but the bug that’s been going around at work has hit me hard. So my apologies for the delay on this post! I meant to post this sometime last week.

The Unilever Trends Box was included for free with my September Topbox. What a surprise that was! I definitely wasn’t expecting that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Other subscribers received the Unilever Classics Box. Both were available for purchase from Topbox for $10 CAD but they are both sold out now which is a shame because it’s such a great deal!

A ton of great stuff from brands under the Unilever umbrella – both old and new to me – were included.  It’s a good mix of stuff so let’s get started!

topbox unilever trends box

Dove Dry Oil Moisturizing Body Wash (53 ml)
I have tried other Dove body washes but not this one in particular.  It is said to be “Infused with precious Moroccan Argan Oil beads” which intrigues me. I don’t often use exfoliating body washes so I look forward to trying this one out!

Dove Soothing Camomile Dry Spray Antiperspirant (107 g)
Now here’s something that I’ve heard good things about but haven’t had a chance to try yet. I have never tried a spray antiperspirant before so I’m glad I received this! This is definitely a new-to-me product.

Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo (30 ml), Conditioner (30 ml) and Serum (9 ml)
A sample of an entire hair product range! That’s pretty awesome. This is for damaged and over-processed hair. My hair isn’t damaged, per se, but I often use heat styling tools so it’s probably damaged enough. I will have to give this a try. Maybe I will take these on my upcoming vacation. That sounds like a good plan to me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

topbox unilever trends box

Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes (7 count)
I love, love, love Simple cleansing wipes! I can’t even count how many of these I’ve used up already. Super glad to have a nice travel pack for vacation, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

TRESemme Perfectly (un)Done Waves Sea Foam (45 ml)
I usually feel very indifferent about sprays that claim to give you waves because I still haven’t found one that works for me. Something to try, I guess.

TRESemme Perfectly (un)Done Waves Sea Salt Spray (50 ml)
Same comment as above. Why are there two similar products in this box? Not sure. I guess I could try this also.

topbox unilever trends box

Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy Hands Stronger Nails Lotion (100 ml)
Perfect! As the weather gets colder, my hands get drier so this came at a perfect time! I will be using this for sure.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Cocoa Butter (17 g)
Another perfect product for me! I have always loved Vaseline’s Lip Therapy but haven’t tried it yet in this new packaging. Cocoa Butter is my fave one so I will also be using this for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚

So there you go – the 10 products included in the Unilver Trends Box. Overall, it’s pretty great! Other than maybe the TRESemme products, I will be using it all at some point in time. Super glad that I also received a few things I can use right away when I go on holidays.

Thank you Topbox for this amazing bonus with my September Topbox!

Until next time, friends!

September Favorites 2016

september favorites 2016

We are now into autumn! Fall is quite possibly my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong – summer is right up there but the colours of fall and the crisp fresh air can’t be beat! It’s probably our shortest season around here so I do my best to really enjoy it.  Since it’s raining and pouring today, I decided it was time to reflect on what I loved in September.

Let’s start with makeup this month. ๐Ÿ™‚ My first favorite is Benefit Cosmetic’s Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter. I received this in my Sephora Birthday Gift in 2013 but only starting using it last year when I started using highlighters. (And now I’m a highlighter junkie! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )  I have considered this to be a long time favorite of mine. It is just so easy to use and the champagne colour is perfect for my skin tone. I usually apply this to my brow bone,  on my upper cheeks, the top of my nose and on the cleft above my lip. I then blend it in and it achieves a nice glow. It can be as subtle as you want it to be but it is definitely buildable. This deluxe sized sample has lasted me a long time and I have only used about half of it! I can’t imagine how long a full sized version would last! This is definitely one of my fave highlighters that I will continue to use and repurchase in the future!

september favorites 2016

I have another makeup favorite and it is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush in Peach Pink. I received this in my June ipsy glam bag (which arrived well into July) but once I started using it, I was hooked! I am pretty sure that I have been using this blush just about every single day in the past month – I love it that much! It is more pink than peach and it gives my cheekbones the perfect pop of colour. Similar to the Benefit Watt’s Up!, you can choose to have just a little bit of colour or a lot – this is super buildable and easy to apply. This formula is also very easy to blend. So many reasons why I love it! I never get backups of blushes because I can never use one up but I had to get myself a backup of this because I would be crushed if I ever ran out.

september favorites 2016

Now onto skin care. My pick for September is the Hey Honey 24Seven Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. This also came in my June ipsy glam bag and I have been loving it ever since! The deluxe size is 15 ml but you definitely don’t need to use very much of it so 15 ml will last you awhile.  Great for all skin types, it’s a light cream that is very moisturizing. I really like how it smells too. It can be used on your face, neck and around your eye area so it’s a great all-around moisturizer. It’s also paraben free which is something I prefer. I am so happy to have discovered this moisturizer. I already purchased a full sized bottle for when I run out of my deluxe sample. ๐Ÿ™‚

september favorites 2016

For hair care this month, I have been reaching for my deluxe sample of Alterna Haircare Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist pretty much every day. This stuff is fab and my hair is loving it! It is a hair treatment that does everything from repairing split ends to banishing frizz and protecting your colour. It smells great, too! You just spray it on when your hair is damp then I usually use my hair dryer. By the time my hair is dry, it feels silky smooth and it’s not as frizzy as it usually is. I have really become a fan of this product and will definitely be repurchasing it in the future! Perhaps during Sephora’s November sale. ๐Ÿ˜‰

september favorites 2016

Now that I have finished covering all my beauty faves, I have a jewelry fave, too. I have been wearing this Aquamarine wrap bracelet from Color By Amber  just about every day. Usually I wear it as a bracelet but not only is it a bracelet, it also doubles as a necklace! Or is it a necklace that doubles as a bracelet? Either way, it is fantastic! It looks great by itself or with other CBA bracelets and skinnies. Since a lot of my wardrobe is greens and blues, I find that this accessory just adds to my every day look. It looks great with basic colours, like black, grey and white, too! It’s super versatile and I adore it. ๐Ÿ™‚

september favorites 2016

september favorites 2016

Last but not least, I have a clothing fave. I bought this Tailor Vintage red and black plaid shirt from Costco and it has been a staple in my wardrobe ever since! I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but plaid is everywhere this fall! Costco also had this in a few other color combinations, such as, black and white, purple and black and blue and grey. If I can recall, it was $14.99 CAD so it was super affordable – you can’t go wrong with that! This shirt goes well with a lot of what is already in my closet and I love the length of it. I can easily wear it with skinny jeans or leggings. The fabric is so soft and it’s SO comfy. A good plaid shirt is a definite must have in your closet this season so this was a welcomed addition to my wardrobe.

september favorites 2016

So there you have it! All my September favorites. I hope you enjoyed what I had to share. Now it’s your turn – what did you love in the month of September? Please share in the comments below. I love hearing about your faves because then it gives me ideas of what I should be trying.
