Unboxing + Review: Boxycharm November 2017 Sweater Weather

boxycharm november 2017

Sweater Weather.

With it being as cold as it is this week (and it has been pretty warm up until the other day!), it definitely is sweater weather around here! So how perfect is it that Boxycharm would use this as their theme for November’s box.

boxycharm november 2017

Boxycharm is an American subscription box that ships to Canada. It is $21.00 USD per month or you can get a small discount for a 3-month, 6-month or annual subscription. You can cancel at anytime which is nice. Each month you will receive four to five full-sized beauty items. If you would like to try this sub, I would appreciate it if you would use my link here. 🙂

There were a couple of items that I was super excited about when I received this box. Let’s take a look at those products first.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I am a huge Luxie Beauty fan. There isn’t a brush of theirs that I have tried and disliked… I just adore them! So I was very excited to see the Luxie Beauty Quad Eyes Travel Set ($32.00 USD). This set comes with four eye brushes that are the same as their full sized version. I love that these are so compact. I will definitely be taking these the next time I travel and they will be very useful during camping… er… glamping season. 😉

Next up is a full-sized bottle of the CoverFX Illuminating Setting Spray ($31.00 USD). I have been wanting to try this setting spray for the longest time so I was happy to receive it! This setting spray is meant to set your makeup and provide you with instant all over illumination. I love how fine the mist is – one of the finest mists I have ever seen! – because it doesn’t make my face feel like its drenched. A huge plus that this is alcohol free so it shouldn’t dry out your skin. So far I am really liking this!

The next product is so cute! The WinkyLux Kitten Palette ($25.00 USD) features cute kittens on the outer packaging and highly-pigmented shadows on the inside. The eyeshadows are a mix of different finishes  including mattes, satins, glitters and holographic shadows. My love for cats means that I automatically love this but the shadows are great too so it’s fantastic all around.

These next products I weren’t as excited about.

The Laqa & Co Cloud Lips in the shade Sunshower ($17.00 USD) is a matte lipstick that is full coverage and long lasting. I would love to try this product but I’m not a big fan of this shade so I’m going to try and find a new home for it. Bright blue reds and I don’t really get along.

Last, I received three KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Masks ($15.00 USD). These are jelly lip masks that provide hydration, moisture and plump. I’m not sure about these lip masks but seeing as my lips have been pretty dry this winter, I’m willing to give it a chance.

boxycharm november 2017 knc beauty collagen lip masks

So that’s it! The total value of this box was $120.00 USD which later translates into around $152.00 CAD using today’s exchange rate. Not too shabby, if you ask me! I love three out of five of the items so that’s still pretty good.

What did you think of November’s Boxycharm?

Shop My Stash: October 2017 … and an Update!

shop my stash october 2017

Howdy everyone! Yes, I do realize that it’s the middle of October already and I still haven’t posted this month’s Shop My Stash and September’s recap. All with good reason, of course. Which will all be explained below…

First off, October was actually a tough one for me to put a basket together for. This was mostly because I have so much on the go in terms of open products that I actually really like and use on the daily. Hence why I’m not in a huge rush with September’s recap as I’m still using the majority of it right now! I think this is a good thing. It only means that I’m finding things that I love and that my collection is being used and is in essence shrinking… which was the goal I had set myself when I started my Shop My Stash series in the first place!

I’m going to tell you right now – don’t expect October’s basket to be chock full of products. In fact, I only have six items in it. I will explain as we go along…

What is a Shop My Stash?

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Every month, I will be going into my makeup collection and – you guessed it – I will shop my stash. ? Just think of it as a haul post but instead of makeup I bought at Sephora or at Shoppers Drug Mart, it’s a haul straight from my own collection! And I’m hoping that by doing this monthly, I won’t get bored of the products I chose like I did in last year’s Project Pan.

If you’re interested, you can find my other Shop My Stash posts here.

How Shop My Stash Works… and an Update!

If you have been following along, you are aware that every month, I take one or two products of a certain type (be it eyeshadow, primer or mascara) and put them in a basket. As we are into Month #10, I found a need to modify this a little bit. First off, in addition to the product categories that are still on the go, I am breaking down the list of product types into the following categories, as well:

  • Success! – This category consists of the products where I no longer have many different products for. Because of that, I no longer need to use up products on a rotation schedule. There is only one or a couple left in these categories.
  • Working On It! But On Hold For Now… – There were some categories where I still have to work on my stash but there are currently a number of products that I like and are open and in use. In order to give myself a chance to use the open items, I have put a freeze on these categories until it’s time to use something new. I will start these up again in the near future once I finish up some of my products that are on the go.

If you haven’t noticed, I did not include any lip products (lipstick, lipgloss, etc.) to my list. This is because they are already in rotation in my purse. I change them around a lot so I didn’t think they needed special attention like the rest of these products!

At the end of each month I will have to make a few decisions: keep the product, continue using it (for those holy grail products I must always use) or get rid of it. I’m hoping that by doing this I can help identify my loves and get rid of what I don’t want anymore. I hope that I can get my collection under control.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I am not going to be limited to only using what’s in my basket. If there’s something I want to use then by all means, I will! The basket is just there to help give me something to focus on that month.

Then at the end of the month, I will summarize my monthly basket (what I loved, what I didn’t love, etc.) and then I will pick out a new basket of products!

Shop My Stash for October 2017

Here’s the skinny. The skinny basket, that is. There are only six products in this month’s basket. And I want it to be clear… I have been using all of these since October 1st!

  • Foundation / BB Cream: Wet n’ Wild PhotoFocus Foundation in Cream Beige, Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Powder in Natural Beige

  • Eye shadow (palette or singles): Buxom Custom 6-Pan Eyeshadow Bar Palettes (that I got for, I believe $20 each when Sephora had them on sale online)

It’s quite the mix of Wet n’ Wild this month! And even though I am just posting this now, I have been using these since October 1st. 🙂

Well, now that I’ve gone through what’s in my basket, I thought I would write a quick summary of the product categories which I have been successful in finally getting under control! I still have two months left in the Shop My Stash 2017 series and I was planning on doing a HUGE recap in January but things are already so different from how things were in January that I thought I’d do a quick update now.

These categories of products are pretty much under control now. If something new comes into my collection, I can easily decide what to do with it because I know what’s in my collection. I can decide to try it and keep it or just sell or give it away if I don’t need it. This is great progress!

As of the end of September 2017, seven out of the 17 categories have been a success! It’s a great feeling! 🙂 Here they are:

  1. Color Corrector – I didn’t have many of these in the first place so this one was a quick win!
  2. Concealer I have finished going through what I have in my stash and there haven’t been any new concealers introduced to it or purchased. I’m only using the ones that I love right now. 🙂
  3. Setting Powder – Similar to concealers, I’m only using what I love now.
  4. Pore Reducer – I am down to one: Benefit’s The POREfessional
  5. Eye Primer – I only have a handlful of the ones that I love left in my collection and I plan on using them all!
  6. Brow Setting Gel – I’m also down to one with this one! In fact, I just finished my MAC Setting Gel and have moved on to the Pixi Beauty Brow Tamer
  7. Mascara Primer – Again, I’m down to one with this one. I finished my tarte Opening Act deluxe sample and I’m using my deluxe sample of Dior’s Diorshow Maximizer primer which has always been my favourite of all time in this category.

Working On It! But On Hold For Now…

There were some categories where I know I still have some work to do to trim down my stash but I have a number of open products that I like and really want to use. In order to give myself a chance to use these items, I have essentially put the following categories on hold. I will start these up again when I’m ready.

  • Eyeliner
  • Brow
  • Mascara
  • Bronzer – This is an odd one – the only reason this one is “on hold” is because my skin is still a couple of shades darker from the summer. I still have no need for  bronzer right now.

And that’s it for October! Apologies again for getting this up late. I really was trying to figure things out for awhile there. But I did figure it out and I know what I’m doing with this initiative again.

Hope you’re still enjoying this series! Let me know about your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below. 🙂

Unboxing + Review: Boxycharm July 2017 Cutie Pie

boxycharm july 2017

I’m trying out another new subscription this month!  I have cancelled quite a few of my subs in the past few months so I felt like something new. I have heard so many great things about this sub and when the opportunity came when the spoilers were just too good to pass up and they lifted the wait list, I couldn’t help but sign up!

boxycharm july 2017

boxycharm july 2017

Boxycharm is an American subscription box that ships to Canada. It is $21.00 USD per month or you can get a small discount for a 3-month, 6-month or annual subscription. You can cancel at anytime which is nice. Each month you will receive four to five full-sized beauty items. The key words here are FULL-SIZED! Not samples or deluxe samples like other subs! That was one of the things that drew me in. If you would like to try this sub, I would appreciate it if you would use my link here. 🙂

So now that you have all the deets about this sub, let’s see what July had in store for me!

boxycharm july 2017

July’s Boxycharm’s theme is Cutie Pie. There are so many goodies in this box so let’s get started!

boxycharm july 2017 blinc

boxycharm july 2017 blinc

First up, we have the Electric Eyes Palette from Blinc ($45.00 USD). Wow! Those were the first words out of my mouth when I saw the shades in this palette. Sure, the packaging was scratched up but this palette contains five jewel-toned shades that are just gorgeous! It really is the inside that really counts. 😉 Each one is so beautifully pigmented. I had so much fun swatching all these shades! I love golds, bronzes and purples so it’s almost as if this palette was made for me. 😉 Each shade is buttery smooth and easy to work with. Love this!

boxycharm july 2017 colourpop

boxycharm july 2017 colourpop

Next, I received the ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Lock Diary ($6.00 USD). I am a huge ColourPop fan so this was exciting! This product was from their limited edition Hello Kitty collection. Lock Diary is a bright cool fuschia. I’m talking super bright. Too bright for me! While I likely won’t wear this shade myself, I will say that I’m a fan of the Ultra Satin lippies. It’s a nice product… the shade just wasn’t me!

boxycharm july 2017 bareminerals

I am sure I will find a use for this next product. The BareMinerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo ($32.00 USD) is a palette that has a setting powder on one side and a finishing powder on the other. Being translucent, it’s great for all skin tones. I’m often using powder setting products to keep my makeup in place and looking great so I’m excited to see how this product performs. I already have it set aside and included in my September Shop My Stash line up so stay tuned for more thoughts on this product! 🙂

boxycharm july 2017 winkylux

The next product is great, too. I’ve been using more brow products in the last year or so so it was nice to see the Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil by WinkyLux ($12.00 USD). How gorgeous is this gold and white packaging? This is not a fine brow pencil and reminds me of Benefit’s Goof Proof Pencil which I love. I have high hopes for this so I’m hoping that I’m not going to be disappointed!

boxycharm july 2017 project beauty

The last product I received in July is Project Beauty’s Spray. Set. Go. Makeup Setting Spray ($32.00 USD). Am I the only one who finds it odd that there are two makeup setting products int his box? I get that one’s powder and this one is  spray but still. Anyways, I do use setting sprays so I will still give this a try. It’s a nice size to travel with. Not too big and not too small.

So that’s it for my very first Boxycharm! At a value of $127.00 USD, this is a high value box. That’s $160.00 CAD at today’s exchange rate. I do love that everything is full-sized, as well! So far I’m impressed. I just received my August box this past week so look for that unboxing soon!

Do you sub to Boxycharm? What do you think about it?

Shop My Stash Recap: July 2017

shop my stash recap july 2017

Wow, July sure went by in a flash! I’m truly amazed at how quickly summer is going by yet sad because I don’t want it to end! Don’t get me wrong, I do love fall but I’m not quite ready for summer to be over just yet.

I had a pretty great Shop My Stash basket in July. I used everything pretty much every singld day this month! Plus I did not make any makeup purchases this month! I was super dedicated to using what I already have and not getting anything new other than what came in my subscription boxes.

There’s quite a bit to go through today so let’s get started!

For those of you who are new to this series, every month in 2017. I will be selecting (or ‘shopping’) different items from my makeup collection (aka the ‘Stash’) in an attempt to rediscover and use up what I already own instead of going to the store or shopping online. When your collection gets out of hand, you tend to forget what you already have.

If you want to read up more about this series, please see my introductory post. It contains a pretty thorough explanation as to what this is all about. ?  Also you can check out all my other Shop My Stash posts here.

I break down my recap posts into three parts: empties, keepers and rejects. Starting in May and June, I have also added a new category called “retired” which I will explain in that section. I think having this new category is a very good thing! Under each category, there is a quick write up about each product to express my thoughts about each one. I like to start off with success so lets look at the empties first. Quick wins! 🙂

The Empties

As usual, we are going to look at the empties first. There’s three of them. I consider it a successful month anytime I get empties! There was almost four but the NARS Tinted Moisturizer still has some product in it left.

shop my stash recap july 2017

Face primer: Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer
Pretty good! This is the first time I have ever used a primer that also illuminates your skin. I really liked the formulation of this one. It was super light on my skin and wasn’t sticky at all. My makeup also stayed put. Overall, I really like this primer. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it again!

Brow: ColourPop Brow Pencil in Black N’ Brown
I used up another ColourPop Brow Pencil! This one is a darker shade that Bangin’ Brunette but it still worked for me…. it just made my brows look a lot more dramatic! I like this pencil… and I especially liked how it didn’t break as often as Bangin’ Brunette did! That just goes to show that it was a flawed brow pencil and not representative of the entire ColourPop brow pencil line so that’s a good thing. I do think I prefer Bangin’ Brunette, though… I would purchase that one over Black N’ Brown.

Mascara: Benefit Roller Lash
I used to LOVE this mascara! Now I think I just like it… recently, I found a couple of other mascaras that I like more. Still, this keeps the curl and does volumize my lashes. I’d use it again… and I’m going to have to since I still have a couple of these lying around in my collection! Not complaining, though. It’s a good mascara. 🙂

The Keepers

The largest section of these recap posts, as usual, is the Keepers section. These are the items I like enough to keep and continue using. 🙂

shop my stash recap july 2017

Concealer: Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer in Medium
While I do love my tarte Shape Tape, I also love this one…. but for different reasons. For days when I don’t have such dark circles or I just need light to medium coverage, I reach for this one. It’s a lot thinner consistency but still offers buildable coverage. This is also available at Sephora so I don’t need to order from tarte to get it. This is one of my fave concealers that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again!

Foundation / BB Cream: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz, Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer in 07 Sand, IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+SPF 50 in Tan
Okay, I knew that I liked the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer but I didn’t realize just how much I loved it until this month! I reached for this one the most in July. I’m going to say about 90% of the time, I wore this. It’s just so perfect for summer and July was a pretty warm month here with many days that felt humid, too. All I wanted was light coverage on these days. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the IT Cosmetics and Milani ones (in that order) but they were too thick for this month even though they are darker shades that work with my skin tone right now. Still keeping those for future use!

shop my stash recap july 2017

Blush: NARS Orgasm and tarte cosmetics Amazonian Clay Blush in Entertain
The NARS has shimmer while the tarte was matte. I love them both, though! The NARS is very pigmented so I just made sure to use a light hand with that one… otherwise, I would be very shimmery for work! The tarte was more subtle and natural. I will continue to use both!

Highlighter: tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette
This was a lovely highlighter palette! I used Sunlight and Moonlight (the two larger of the pans) the most. Excellent pigmentation and Moonlight kinda falls uder the same shade family as Becca’s Opal shade so I probably used that one the most. I was disappointed in Filtered Light (the smaller shade in the middle), though. It wasn’t pigmented at all! Two out of three is still better than none, though!

Setting powder: elf Perfect Finish HD Powder
I’m starting to get into the duplicates in this category so I think I will be retiring this one in October after I try out the Bare Minerals one I received in July’s Boxycharm in September. As you know, I really like the elf pressed setting powder! Seeing so much pan proves that point. This is a great product and it’s reasonably priced, too. I got this last time I went to Vegas but I’ve seen it a lot locally, too. Superstore, Walmart, London Drugs and Rexall all carry this now. I will definitely be repurchasing this!

shop my stash recap july 2017

Eye primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
I really need to start using some of my forgotten eye primers… this is a duplicate, again. So you already know this is a holy grail for me. If you follow my blog, you’d know this already! So we’ll just say it’s great and I love it and let’s move on.

Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, Urban Decay Naked 3 Double-Ended Eyeliner in Darkside and Blackheart
KVD is holy grail. That is a no brainer. It’s like the Too Faced eye primer. I love it and have repurchased it again and again. That’s all that needs to be said. The Urban Decay duo eyeliner is nice, too. I love these two colours. Darkside is a warm plum with a satin finish and Blackheart is a cool burgundy with a glitter finish. The formulation is nice. it glides right on. This one’s a keeper.

Mascara: tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes
I hope this never runs out! I’ve been using this one since April and I love it! It really lengthens and volumizes my lashes. It doesn’t smudge on me either (like the Too Face Better Than Sex one… oh my, raccoon eyes!). I will be using this until it’s done… or until the six month mark when it’s due for replacement. I would repurchase this in a heartbeat!

Eye shadow (palette or singles): ColourPop Super Shock Shadows
When I first started this endeavor, I said “For the month of July, I will focus on all my ColourPop. I have so many that I have neglected for too long!”. So I used mostly ColourPop in the month of July and it was SO good! I forgot how amazing these formulas are and just how pigmented and great they look! I will definitely have to use these more, for sure! Here are swatches of a few of my favourite ones.

The Rejects

None this month. I didn’t have anything in my basket that I absolutely couldn’t use or hated. That’s good, I guess? 🙂

The Retired

I’ve made it! When it comes to this category, at least. 😉

shop my stash recap july 2017

Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Another duplicate. This category is going to go into a loop right away and I don’t want to clutter this post with the same thing each month. I love this setting spray so it’s definitely going into that rotation.

And that’s it my friends! Another month of Shop My Stash in the books. I’m still working through my collection but at least now that I’ve completed seven months of this, I’m feeling a lot better about it. I’m discovering what I love and what I don’t. That was the whole point when I started this.

While summer is still busy, I’m going to try and not fall behind on my next Shop My Stash posts. Look out for my August recap and the intro to my September basket posts on the week of September 3rd!

Until next time! How are you doing on your makeup challenges? 🙂

Shop My Stash Recap: May and June 2017

shop my stash recap may june 2017

Wow, it’s already July! The Shop My Stash series has officially reached the six month mark and I’m still going strong! I’m cycling through more of my makeup than I ever have before and I’m finding that this is helping me curb my spending. I haven’t bought a whole lot since I started this endeavour!

Which leads me to this question: I have been getting a few questions from readers asking me for tips on what helps you stay on track when you are on a no-buy or a low-buy (which is what I am following, more or less). Is there any interest in a blog post with tips and ideas that might help others who are trying to stay on track for their no-buy, low buy, project pans or shop my stash attempts? Let me know! 🙂

Anyways, let’s get started as there is a lot to cover!

Quick wins! 🙂

The Empties

During the last recap, it felt like the empties were going to be few and far between… because, honestly, how much can you use up in one month??? So when I ended up with three empties this time around, I was ecstatic! Am I the only one who gets excited when you hit pan or realize you have an empty? I think it’s exciting! (Plus it means one less product in the collection – huzzah!) Let’s take a look at the empties this go-round.

shop my stash recap may june 2017

Face Primer: CoverFX Anti-Aging Primer
This primer goes on smooth and is not at all sticky. I really like this primer! Which is a good thing because you’ll probably see this one here again in a few months… I have a full sized tube! 😮 I have used up another deluxe sized sample before this one so I knew what I was getting into so that’s okay.

Brow: ColourPop Brow Pencil in Bangin’ Brunette
I had a love-hate relationship with this brow pencil. On one hand, Bangin’ Brunette is the perfect shade for m brows so that they look natural and I really like the formulation and staying power of this pencil. On the other hand, I was not a big fan of it always breaking on me! To be fair, I have another shade of this product and that one doesn’t seem to have this issue so I’m just gonna chalk this one up to having a faulty product. Oh well. I must have liked it, though, seeing as I used it until it was done!. I would repurchase this as long as it doesn’t keep breaking.

Eye Primer:  Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
This isn’t empty but I’ve been using it since November so it’s time to let it go. This was a pretty great product for this price point but I think I will stick to my fave Dior product when it comes to lash primers.

The Keepers

This is the largest grouping of products. These are the ones that I like enough or love enough to keep and continue using. 🙂

shop my stash recap may june 2017

Concealer: tarte Shape Tape in Medium
Amazing coverage! But it’s also a little bit on the thicker side when it comes to consistency. That being said, I still love it! The shade Medium is a perfect match for my skin tone. This concealer provides great coverage and blends so easily. Love this.

Foundation / BB Cream: Chanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup SPF 15 in 30 Cendre – Shell
Probably my only super high end foundation. I like this one a lot! It is a great shade match and super easy to blend. It also feels very lightweight and pretty moisturizing. I also liek that it contains SPF too. I won’t be wasting this one… I like it too much!

Foundation / BB Cream: L’Oreal Infallable Pro-Matte Foundation in 105 Natural Beige
Not pictured here because… well, I can’t seem to find it. I know that I took it on a few camping trips in the last month and I know I have seen it around but I seem to have misplaced it. Either way, it is one of my fave drugstore foundations! It has great coverage that builds and it does what it advertises and gives me a matte finish. I’ve used more than half of this already… now if only I could find it!

Blush: Benefit Sugarbomb Shimmer Blush
I will admit, I forgot I owned this. I’m so glad I rediscovered it! It really is such a great blush! There are four colours that you can use individually or blend together with a swirl of your blush brush. I usually just swirl them all and then apply it to the apples of my cheeks. This is a keeper for sure!

Highlighter: NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam
I love this highlighter but it sure can be messy! The tube keeps squeezing more and more highlighter out of it without me even touching it so it can get quite excessive. All I can say is that it’s a good thing that this is a great highlight shade because otherwise I would have tossed it! Not a fan of the packaging at all!

Setting Powder: CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder in Light to Medium
Still loving this powder. It just sets everything. And it is also tinted and provides me with a bit of colour. There isn’t anything bad I can think of about this product… except maybe the mirror int he compact. It’s really small. But that can be forgiven because the product is fab.

shop my stash recap may june 2017

Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Holy grail. Enough said. But in all honesty, I love this eyeliner to bits! I’m sure this is the third pen I’m on now. Sadly it’s getting pretty close to becoming another empty. I just love how precise this is and doesn’t drag on my lashline. It’s just so good.

Eyeliner: essence Eyeliner Pen Extra Longlasting
I’m really liking this liquid eyeliner, as well! This is a great drugstore option. The tip of this liquid eyeliner is precise and I find that it’s a long lasting formula. I will keep this one around for when my KVD one runs out!

Eye Primer:  Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
Another favourite of mine. This is a great eye primer in that my eyeshadow stays put ALL day long. It’s easy to apply with your finger and absorbs quickly so you don’t have to wait to apply your eyeshadow. Just a great product all around!

Mascara: Benefit Roller Lash, tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes
I’m just going to group these two together because I am going to say the same thing about both of them. I’m a huge fan of both the Roller Lash and the Lights, Camera, Flashes mascaras! They both make my lashes look longer, keeps the curl and just overall looking great. This is why I haven’t tossed them out yet after using them for months now! I’m usually not very shy to throw out a deluxe sample if it’s horrible so that’s a good thing.

Setting Spray: MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray
Love this setting spray. It’s so light and smells nice. And most importantly, it keeps my makeup on my face. 😉 It’s also very refreshing to use throughout the day. Good stuff!

Eye shadow (palette or singles): Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette
I had an awful first impression of this palette when I first got it. I got it because I love purples so this was the perfect palette for me! But when I first used it, I didn’t find it as pigmented as I would have liked… so I set it aside and didn’t use it for awhile. Giving it another chance this past month, I don’t know what was going on back then because the pigmentation is great now! And I love the many shades of purple in that palette. I used it a lot last month and I will be using it a lot in the future, too.

The Rejects

I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not but I only have one item for this category and quite honestly, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to include it here under The Rejects or put in in with The Empties. Anyways, here goes. Please don’t hate me!

Eye Shadow (Palette or Singles): Urban Decay Naked 2
This was one of my very first palettes I ever purchased for myself. I loved it. Absolutely adored it. But now that it’s old, I think it’s dried up. It’s not as pigmented as it used to be when I use a brush (it’s still very pigmented if I use my fingers) and quite honestly, I have most (if not all) of these shades  (or similar shades) in other palettes that I own. I also noticed that I never reach for this palette anymore… I reach for other palettes instead. So because of those reasons, I think it’s time to part with this. Sad to say but goodbye Naked 2. You were lovely while you lasted! No, I will not be repurchasing this due to the reason stated above of my other similar nude shade palettes.

The Retired

As you may have noticed, I started having items mentioned each and every month. I don’t want to continue cluttering my recap posts by having to write about these same items over and over so I started a new classification: The Retired. These are the last of their kind in my collection. These are the products that I will continue to use month after month so the product in this category will never change. To be perfectly honest, I want all the product categories to get to this point but I know that it’s not realistic. Anyways, so far, we have two retired categories.

Pore Reducer: Benefit POREfessional
While I have many deluxe sided samples of this product, this is the only pore reducer I have in my collection. If you have been following me for awhile now, you know this is my holy grail pore product in my makeup arsenal! I consider this as a Holy Grail product and I will continue to use this product and finish up all the samples that I have.

Brow Gel: MAC Brow Set in Clear
Another Holy Grail product of mine… and the only brow gel that I currently own. This does a fab job keeping my brows staying put! I will finish this and either keep buying it or I will buy another product… but only one product at a time… so I won’t have to include it in my Shop My Stash endeavours. Yes, I have learned through this process and I will try my best not to hoard products anymore.

And that, my friends, is it for my May and June Shop My Stash recap! I hope you enjoyed that.  I’m six months into Shop My Stash right now and I’m really enjoying it. I’m also finding all sorts of positive things coming out of it that it makes me want to continue doing it.

Are you currently working on a Shop My Stash or Project Pan? How are you doing at the mid-year mark?
