Unboxing + Review: ipsy July 2017 Over Easy

ipsy July 2017

ipsy summers are ultra chill… or in the case of July’s bag, it’s just Over Easy.

Over Easy is the them for July and the bag features Gudetama, and over easy egg. Gudetama was created by Sanrio, the same brains behind Hello Kitty, Keroppi and other cute characters. Gudetama looks a little sad, though. I’m don’t know why. He really shouldn’t be! I love Sanrio characters and have loved them since I was a pre-teen and there were still Sanrio stores around here. I’ll give this sad egg a chance. 🙂

But right now, let’s see what was in the bag!

ipsy July 2017 trestique

The first item I received was the treStiQue Mini Concealer Crayon in Bisque (price and size of product is unknown). Now how handy and convenient is this? A concealer pencil that’s super portable! This concealer has a creamy texture that provides medium to full coverage. It is coconut-infused making it hydrating for those who have dry undereyes. I’m glad I received this. 🙂

ipsy July 2017 seraphine botanicals

Next, we have the Seraphine Botanicals Ginger + Gold Peach & Gold Frosting Blush ($14.00 USD, 3 g). This is so so so my colour! So it’s safe to say that I’m happy about it! This is a nice smooth blush with ginger, lychee, mangosteen and chamomile extracts. Because of these ingredients, you can smell it in the pan but not when you apply it. I also love that it’s mineral oil, paraben and phthalates free. It’s also hypo-allergenic so my sensitive skin is thankful! Love this blush!

ipsy July 2017 modicum

I also received the Modicum Essential Serum ($12.50 USD, 5 ml). I have always been uncertain about oils on my skin. More often than not, I end up breaking out a bit. The tarte one is probably the only exception. This serum is packed chock full of oils and it’s plant based so it’s said to be great for problematic skin. It also has anti-aging benefits. They also say that it has healing properties for chronic skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. It does have a strong scent, though, and I’m not a fan so that, in addition to it being an “uncertain oil”, I think I will take a pass.

ipsy July 2017 tarte cosmetics

This next one is fun – the tarte cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel ($1.50 CAD, 7.5 ml) is an excellent cleanser. How do I know this? Because I have already used it before! It is super great for cleansing makeup and it’s really gentle, too. And if you don’t like strong scents, this is great because it’s super subtle. I am going to save this small travel sized bottle for my next vacation. It’s great for travel. 🙂

ipsy July 2017 bellapierre cosmetics

Last item! And it’s quite intriguing. It is the Bellapierre Cosmetics Banana Setting Powder ($35.00 USD, 4 g)! I gotta admit… I’ve always been curious about banana powders for colour correction and this is the first time I’ve gotten my hands on one so I’m super excited about it! Also, this is a full sized product so that’s pretty great!  I haven’t tried it yet because I’ve been trying to get through my current concealer in my Shop My Stash basket but I’m going to have to try it soon. I will try it to set my makeup under my eyes maybe. I hope it works well!

That’s it for July’s bag. The overall value for this month is $78.94 CAD at the very least… I’m not sure what the value of the treStiQue concealer is… but that’s still pretty good! Considering I like every item except the serum, the bag is worth it this month.

I’m still waiting for my August ipsy to come in the mail so it will be a little while yet before that unboxing but I hope to get it up sooner than later!

Unboxing + Review: ipsy May 2017 Summer Friday

ipsy may 2017

Are you ready for summer? I sure am! And May’s glam bag is just the thing one needs to kickstart their summer season.

Titled Summer Friday, May’s glam bag is so cute and proper. It features ice cream and popsicles and is waterproof. It screams summer and is perfect for the pool, the beach and other summer activities!

ipsy may 2017

ipsy may 2017

I received a good mix of products in May. Let’s take a look!

ipsy may 2017 benefit cosmetics gimme brow

The first item in my bag was the Benefit Cosmetics gimme brow volumizing fiber gel in the shade 5 ($10.67 CAD, 1 g). I used to love gimme brow. The old version. I’m not sure if they changed the formulation of this when they changed the packaging but I have tried this new version before but it didn’t work out too well for me. The skin around my brows became super dry. I couldn’t tell if it was an allergic reaction or if it just dried out my skin. I don’t know if I received old product… so I’m a bit pensive. I’m not sure if I will try this again. I have heard that it has worked wonders for others, though!

ipsy may 2017 hempz

Next we have the Hempz Pomegranate Herbal Body Moisturizer ($7.50 CAD, 2.25 oz). This is a nice sized sample and smells heavenly! I will definitely be trying this one out.

ipsy may 2017 trestique

The trestique Mini Matte Lip Crayon I received what in the shade Tuscan Wine ($10.67 USD, 0.025 oz). I’m not sure about this colour. I don’t often use colours this dark and dramatic. While I love the formulation (I have other shades of this product), I think I am going to pass on this shade. This doesn’t quite work with my day-to-day work and weekend looks. It would be nice, though, if I were going glam… which doesn’t happen often.

ipsy may 2017 luxie

ipsy may 2017 luxie

This next product is great – Luxie Beauty’s Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 ($30.91 USD). This brush can be used to apply liquid, cream or powder foundations, concealers, highlighters and bronzers. I absolutely adore my other Luxie brushes so I’m happy to add this to my collection. They feel so soft and work so well. Plus, the handle colour of the Dreamcatcher line is beautiful!

ipsy may 2017 kvossnyc

The final product in my May glam bag is the KVossNYC Macaroon Lip Balm in Light Cream ($14.00 USD, 0.25 oz). Being the self-proclaimed lip balm junkie that I am, I always welcome a new lip balm to try! It smells sweet and it’s supposed to be very moisturizing. Looking forward to trying this. 🙂

So that’s it for this month! The total value of my May ipsy glam bag was roughly $92.00 CAD based on today’s exchange rate. That’s not bad at all! The unfortunate part is that I don’t love all the products. Aside from the body lotion, brush and lip balm, I am not a fan of the other products. That’s the risk you take with these beauty subscriptions!

ipsy may 2017

This is my final remaining monthly subscription. The remainder of my subscriptions are all seasonal. I’m okay with that, though, because I do need to downsize my collection badly. Subscriptions can really pile up! Oh well, I am still enjoying my ipsy bag. I love at least having one sub to surprise me every month. 🙂

Like what you see here? For those of you who would like to give this a try and would like to know more, this subscription is $10.00 USD  a month in the US and $10.00 USD + $4.00 USD shipping for Canadians. You get a mix of skincare, makeup and haircare deluxe and full sized products. And you get a different style of bag each month. Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!

Unboxing + Review: ipsy October 2016 Black Magic

ipsy glam bag october 2016

I am so behind. The weeks leading up to my vacation were SO busy that I didn’t get a chance to get this posted before I hopped on a plane to paradise! So I apologize. But better late than never?

ipsy’s theme for their bag in October was Black Magic. It makes sense seeing as it was Halloween! While it can be a scary time of year, this bag was anything but spooky!

I mean, how cute is this bag that features Valfré’s drawings of crystal balls, kitties, lipsticks and candy corn? I love unique illustrations so this was totally up my alley. And the contents of the bag I received was pretty good. It was a mix of makeup, a brush and a skincare item in my October bag. So let’s get started!

ipsy glam bag october 2016

This month, three out of the five items I received were makeup items. It doesn’t happen often when I get more makeup items than anything else so that was nice!

My first makeup item this month was a sample of theBalm Cosmetic’s CabanaBoy Blush ($1.40 USD, 0.02 oz). As much as I think these theBalm samples are cute and unique, they are so small! I know I’ve said this in the past already but they really are. These small samples are so hard to work with unless it’s one you can use with an eyeshadow brush or a lip brush. In this case, a blush brush was just too big. Anyways, regarding the product itself, it’s a nice dusty rose colour, which is probably something I would use. I like rose coloured blushes.

ipsy glam bag october 2016

Next up is the Ciate Fierce Flicks Eyeliner (£15.00, 0.05 fl oz). I love liquid liners so I was looking forward to trying it. It is a brush tip, similar to the Stila liquid liner, and it was easy to use. While I do prefer a finer tip, like my holy grail Kat Von D Tatoo Liner, this one was pretty good too. It’s a thicker line but it went on pretty smooth. It lasted all day but it did smudge a little bit on me. I still prefer my KVD but I will continue to use this. Not bad at all!

Let’s take a look at what’s next – the tre’StiQue Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux (price unknown, 0.2 oz). I don’t often use darker lip colours but this colour is gorgeous! It goes on smoothly and looks great on. It’s also not at all drying and has decent staying power. I’m glad I received this because now I have a darker lip colour. Plus, can I say that this shade is absolutely perfect for fall? Just perfect!

While this is not makeup, it is certainly related. I received the MeMeMe Blush Brush (price unknown) which was nice because I love brushes! Though, I may have to pass this one on because I have too many blush brushes. But from what I can tell, it’s a very soft brush. A great addition to anyone’s brush collection!

ipsy glam bag october 2016

Last but not least, the final item I received was the Dermelect Rapid Repair Facial Moisturizer ($6.82 USD, 0.5 oz). Due to the many deluxe samples of moisturizers I have open right now (honestly, it’s gotta be at least three of them!), I haven’t tried this one yet. I am interested in trying it, though, because of their claim of its calming properties and because it is said to be great for sensitive skin. Perhaps after I finish one of my other moisturizer tubes!

ipsy glam bag october 2016

The value of my October glam bag was $35.24 CAD… with the exception of the trestique lip crayon and MeMeMe brush, both of which I couldn’t figure out what the prices were! Either way, still not bad when it comes to value.

So there you are. A very quick and dirty recap of October’s bag… stay tuned, though. I still have November’s ipsy glam bag to unbox! Or is that unbag? Anyways, just keep your eyes open for that soon. 😉

Not subscribing to ipsy but would like to give it a try? It is $10.00 USD  a month in the US and $10.00 USD + $4.00 USD shipping for Canadians. Please use my link – much appreciated!

Hope you are all having a great evening!

ipsy glam bag November 2015 Unboxing – Beauty Blast

I have put some thought into it and have come to the conclusion that there is no way that I can write about August, September and October’s ipsy glam bags and come out ahead. I will always be behind! So let’s just skip all those and move on to November, shall we? I may summarize those bags in another post BUT I’m thinking visitors to my humble abode on the interwebs is more interested in seeing what was in my latest glam bag, correct?

I am hoping so because that is where I will begin. Trying to constantly catch up from behind just isn’t workin’ for me! But enough chit chat. Let’s get on with it.

November’s ipsy glam bag came a little bit late this month – likely thanks to the add on’s I redeemed my points on – and let me tell you, it is galactic! Literally.
